Coaching Philosophy
Coaching Philosophy
Practices -o We firmly believe that our practices translate into habits, which in turn
prepare our players for both success on and off the field o We will implement multiple drills, routines and offensive/defensive
strategies used by some of the best high schools and colleges in the country
o We will develop scripted practice schedules for each and every practiceo We will plan out every minute of every practice, so it is critical to
make sure you are on-time o We are investing a lot of time, preparation and energy into each and
every practice… miss a day miss a lot! o Practice times
o We will be setting the practice schedule one week at a time o 6:45 to 8:45 will be the time slot for most of our seasono We will practice rain or shine
Practices -o We expect every player to be on-time, ready to play for every practice
and gameo If practice starts at 6:45pm that means we expect each player to be
dressed and ready to go at 6:45pmo Any missed practices or games must be approved by the coaches o Excused absence – If you are too sick to come to school then you are
too sick to practice or play in a gameo Examples of unexcused absences:
o I have tickets to a Cavs Gameo I have dodge ballo I have a date with my girlfriendo I have a driving test
o Get your homework completed in between the end of school and practice
Coaching Philosophy
Playing Time -o Playing to Win – Our goal is to win a State Championship
o We may ask certain players to switch positionso We will play the best players regardless of grade
o Grievances - We ask that you please understand that we have only the best interest of the team in mindo We would prefer to handle all issues coach to player o During the season we will not discuss Playing Time with any Parent o During a game the field and bench area is reserved for team personnel
only
Coaching Philosophy
Conditioning -o Our drills are set up to constantly move during practice and we expect
our players to run from drill to drillo We want to maximize every minute of every practice, to take time to
run laps or get players in shape we feel is counter-productiveo The only time we will run as team is if we feel that discipline is needed o We may ask players to run laps on an individual basis as a form of
discipline or to get focused
Commitment - o Team Firsto We believe in playing as a team, which means no one is more
important than the teamo We will win as a team and lose as a teamo We expect 100% effort out of every player
Coaching Philosophy
Leadership & Culture –o We believe that team chemistry is crucial for the short-term and long-
term success of this programo It starts with the coaches but needs to come from playerso Everyone needs to be on the same pageo The success of the 2015 Season will be determined by the Leadership
on this team o If we can become a cohesive unit we can accomplish our goal this year
of winning a State Championship
Coaching Philosophy

Off-Season
Off Season
Open Gyms (Winter) –
Attendance is not mandatory (OHSAA)
No scoring or timekeeping is permitted (OHSAA)
Coach may not have organizational or instructional contact with participants (OHSAA)
Coach may not participate in designating who is to play on which teams (OHSAA)
Coach or supervisor may participate in play
The frequency of open gym will depend on who is able to make it. We will target 3-4 per month
Crossfit – Chagrin Falls
We will be incorporating Crossfit into regular season practice schedule. I highly recommend getting a head start. Lacrosse team rate will be offered. Explosive first step, core strength, mobility, team building through shared adversity.
We HIGHLY encourage everyone not playing a winter sport to find leagues, skills clinics or travel tournaments to play in…..please get out there catching, throwing, shooting and moving!
o Group rate for Chagrin Lacrosse - $75 per month for Mon, Wed, Friday - 3:30-4:30o Totally voluntary / not affiliated with CFHSo If we have more that 15 per session, we’ll have our own groupo Must register during last week in Octobero Please contact them directly to sign-up -

Ways to Help
Film -o We use Hudl systemo Allows us to film games, upload them into on-line site that can be viewed
from any mobile device or computero Great teaching tool to breakdown game film, competitor film etc.o Create recruiting highlights that can be sent to college coaches directly from
the systemo Typically, we only film varsity gameso WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO HEAD THIS UP!!
Stats -o We use LaxSoft systemo Requires 3 people – one to call the game, the other to enter stats + a
subo Very effective way of accumulating stats and providing reports for
players, coaches & archives o WE CURRENTLY HAVE 2 SPOTS FILLED….NEED A SUB!!
