In May, 2014, businesses that supply packaging and printed paper to BC residents became responsible for collecting and managing these materials so they can be recycled. Multi-Material BC (MMBC), a non-profit organization working on behalf of these businesses, is responsible for residential recycling programs in many areas across BC. MMBC is delivering the program either directly or by working with local governments, First Nations, private companies and not-for-profit organizations. Learn more about MMBC at www.multimaterialbc.ca.

You can help ensure that more materials are recycled by following these steps:
1. Empty and rinse containers. Containers with contents remaining cannot be recycled and can harm workers or damage machinery. Rinsing helps reduce odours and pests.
2. Add materials loose to the recycling container. Only shredded paper should be inside a see-through plastic bag before being added to recycling.
3. Save space by flattening and squashing boxes and cartons. Containers that held the same contents, for example yogurt pots, can be nested, too.
Please leave recycling at least 2m away from garbage cans to avoid damage to recycling containers.
