COMMUNITY SERVICE
Community service is an important part of the education
process at Crestview High School. It is an expectation
that all students participate in community service
activities during their high school career. These
community service hours should be recorded and turned
in to the student’s English teacher at the end of each
school year. Community service can include completing
work that others cannot do for themselves, service for
non-profit organizations, volunteer work where the
student is not paid a wage. Parents, guardians and the
Community Service Committee must approve the
activity. Students should work toward a goal of 25
community service hours each year of high school.
Students should be earning community service hours
during the summer!!!!!

Beat Summer Brain Drain
Many children forget some of what they've learned
during the summer months, particularly in reading and
math. Parents can help by taking advantage of their
local public library. Ask for help selecting books that
match your child's age, interests, and abilities. Libraries
often run summer reading programs that motivate kids
to read, so find out what's available in your area. To
help your child retain math skills, you can use time in
the car to practice math facts and help children with
counting money and telling time frequently. If
available, you can even download a few math or
reading apps for your children to use on the go. With
just a little practice, your child will be ready to learn
this fall.
Good Character Awards A new award, the Good Character Award, was given to
selected fourth grade students on Recognition Day. The
award was given to 1 student from each homeroom who
consistently exhibited exemplary character traits
throughout the past school year. Congratulations to the
following students who received the Good Character
Award: Kamden Miller, Allysa Rance, Chloe Downey,
and Drake Golden.
The School Garden Continues to Grow
Students in Grade 4 were
helped by high school
Home Economics and
middle school Art
students to paint and plant
in our garden’s tractor
tires. School Nurse Janet
Leipheimer has taken on
the project this year to
grow and tend to our
school garden. She has
enlisted the help of
numerous high school
groups to water and tend to the garden throughout the
summer. Students are invited to visit the garden, which
is located in the side of the building facing Middleton
Rd., this summer. If you are interested in helping,
please contact Mrs. Leipheimer at (330) 692-2251.
Have a Wonderful Summer! The entire staff at Crestview Elementary would like to

to learn something new everyday and will keep
practicing those skills they learned during this past
school year. School begins again on Monday, August
26, 2013. Until then, enjoy the summer!
