SHOPPING
Gothenburg is a stylish, trend-conscious city with many exciting design and craft shops.
Many local fashion designers have earned international recognition and there is an appealing
mix of trendy and traditional shops to suit all budgets. In the heart of the city everything from
fashionable boutiques and department stores, to picturesque markets selling crafts, souvenirs
and antiquities is located within easy walking distance. An exiting mixture of modern ware-
houses and specialist shops, pedestrian areas, galleries and arcades guarantees shopping in
Gothenburg is a memorable experience. Smaller shops are normally open between 10 am and

Tourist City attractions
Gothenburgs famous parks and gardens are popular attractions during a stop over.
The Garden Society or the Botanical Garden are well worth a visit no matter the time of
year. Liseberg Amusement Park, the largest in Scandinavia, combines original 1920s charm
with white-knuckle rides, concerts and fun for the whole family. Universeum, Swedensnational science discovery centre is home to giant aquariums with rays who love to be stroked,
sharks, deadly-poisonous snakes, mountain streams and a steamy rain forest. The Wheel
of Gothenburg presents breathtaking views in this 60 meter high round trip. The famous
Gtheborg ship is a replica of an 18th century Swedish East Indiaman ship and one of the
largest fullrigged wooden sailing ships in the world.
City tours of different character to suit all are of course available. The classic city tour on
the Paddan boats shows off the beauty of Gothenburg from a waterside perspective whilst the
Stinsen sightseeing trains take their passengers to interesting sites around the city. It is also
easy to explore Gothenburg on foot or by bicycle, rental bikes are available.

ARCHIPELAGO and EXCURSIONS
The Gothenburg archipelago is an extraordinary experience with thousands of islands scattered
along the west coast. There are endless opportunities for excursions in the beautiful archipelago
and for a single ticket on a public transport ferry, a wonderful swim in the ocean is not far
away. Marstrand Island, with a history dating back to the 13th century and a popular meeting-place of the sailing community, can easily be reached by boat. Another great destination is the
picturesque shing village of stol, where the traditional way of preparing herring and salted
ling is demonstrated. It is easy to get to the islands from the city centre and archipelago tours
are usually available.

Millions of Christmas lights brighten up the Liseberg amusement park and the three kilometre
