As a lm and photographic location, Cape Town is ranked on the top o the list
o international destinations.
It has the charm o old streets and side lanes, contemporary bildings and
premim properties on its coastline. The winelands, montains and beaches are
o the worlds most beatil and the pool o talent in the Soth Arican lm
indstry is eqipped with the technical skills and competence to create anything
rom commercials to big bdget eatre lms.
Filmmakers rom Northern Erope and America also have the advantage o
converting their dollars and eros into Soth Arican crrency so that their
bdgets can accommodate more vale in rand terms.
The recognition o the potential revene rom the indstry has led to investment
in inrastrctre sch as the Sasani Stdio at Cape Towns V&A Waterront, the
pgrade o Longkloo Stdios and the establishment o German eqipment-rental company, CineLicht.
The constrction o the Cape Town Film Stdios a total o R430-million was
invested and this represents the largest commitment to the Soth Arican lm
indstry. Located in Fare, on the otskirts o Cape Town, the project aims to
ensre the existence o a permanent lm inrastrctre in the province.
Since its inception, the CTICC has hosted prestigios msic and arts estivals,
concerts and prodctions sch as the International Jazz Festival, the Msical
Fame, and the Design Indaba.
Its location is in the hb o the city, the technological inrastrctre carried
throgh its prime venes, and its hotel and catering services, all make it a highly
attractive choice or the lm and commercial indstry.

NuRTuRE OuR WORLD (NOW)
CTICC and its sta have created an initiative called NOW which translates into Nrtre
or World. This calls people who enconter the CTICC on all levels powerlly into
action. It encorages consmers to nite in an eort to be environmentally aware. It also
reers to the literal growth o natre.
The NOW initiative epitomises CTICCs commitment to sstainability o the organisation.
In addition to ormalising the organisations environmental commitment, the NOW
initiative has expanded to inclde spplier accreditation.
The CTICC is the rst convention centre in Arica to become a signatory to the uN Global
Compact, a strategic policy initiative or bsiness that are committed to aligning their
operations and strategies with niversally accepted principals in the areas o hman
rights, labor, environments and anti-corrption.
CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENTAs a convention centre with a clear commitment to contribting towards the sstainable
economic development o the Western Cape and Soth Arica as a whole, the CTICC is
determined to do whatever it can to plit the commnities in which it operates.
To achieve this, the centre has a dedicated Corporate Social Investment Programme that
ocses on spporting selected charities throgh the contribtion o prodce, eqipment
and other resorces.
To ensre that or sta members enjoy the benet o being able to contribte to those
less ortnate than themselves, the decision regarding which charities we spport was
made in consltation with all permanent employees.
In addition to the contribtions via the CTICCs ormal CSI programme, sta members
at the centre are encoraged (bt not reqired) to get involved in spporting these andother charities or projects in their personal capacities. .
An important aspect o or ongoing social responsibility otcomes is or training and skills
development o people rom otlying township areas. By eqipping local commnities
with employable skills in the kitchen, or example, we are contribting to job creation
and economic growth in a region we are passionate abot.

GREEN POLICIES
Mch time and eort has been invested into planning arond how CTICC can implement
best practice green initiatives into every area o the bsiness. As a reslt, the ollowing

CTICC avors resable and recyclable prodcts. As sch, no Styrooam cps are sed

EVENT GREENING
CTICCs environmental commitment extends beyond its own practices and the centre
assists its clients to redce their carbon ootprint by means o green event package
options designed to be both memorable and environmentally sond.
MY TREE IN AFRICAMy tree in Arica allows conerence delegates to oset the environmental impact o their
