p ss Custom Catalog Rules
QuikTips offers a systematic guide on the use of the Custom Catalog Wizard in order to apply customized catalog rules to meet your organization’s strategic sourcing goals. Purchasing Administrators/SuperUsers can use the following features via the Fisher Rules Engine Administrative Console in order to specify these rules: • Product Buy Restrictions • Product View Restrictions • Preferred Products What is the Fisher Rules Engine Administrative “Admin” Console? The Fisher Rules Engine Admin Console allows Administrators/SuperUsers to build custom restrictions and rules in one convenient, central location which can be associated with Product Buy, Product View and/or Preferred Products. Once rules are designed via the Console, you can quickly and efficiently build and edit your restrictions as needed. What are Product Buy and Product View Restrictions? Product Buy and View Restrictions enable you to prohibit the purchase or viewing of specific products. This functionality allows you to direct the user to a more appropriate product or source using customized messages. You can restrict products by catalog number, commodity code, class, vendor number, VMA number, and/or type. Depending on the rules you apply, users might be able to view those products in an online store, but will not be able to add them to the Shopping Cart. In addition, Product Rules can also be configured so that users will not even see product descriptions during a search. Why would I create Product Restrictions for end users? In order to eliminate the possibility of unauthorized purchases and to enforce your business rules, these features ensure your sourcing practices are enforced. Only those products that are approved for purchase are accessible to your users in a “custom product catalog” that you've created from the Fisher database. How do I determine these restrictions? These restrictions require information such as Fisher commodity codes, vendor numbers, and other unpublished Fisher data that can be provided by your Fisher Sales Representative. We recommend that you work with your sales rep to develop Product Buy and View Restrictions for your custom catalog! What are "Preferred Products"? Preferred Products are rules that enable you to specify products you want users to consider first when making buying decisions. Unlike restrictions, these rules don't prohibit the purchase of other products that are available in the online stores but do highlight products that are preferred. You can specify preferred products by catalog number, commodity, and/or manufacturer. Users will be able to easily identify those products in search results and online stores. Users can use the “Advanced Options” tool to refine a search for your designated “Preferred Products”.

View the Results! Example: If you wanted to restrict all products with Commodity Code C2, except product 02540K, you would create an Exclusive Class function with C2 as a parameter and an Inclusive Product function with 02540K as a parameter. You would then create a new rule, add both functions to the rule, and then associate them. The result is that the rule indicates a product is “buyable” if it does not have Commodity Code C2 or if it has Product ID 02540K
