Caritas Ukraine’s Counter-Trafficking Program
The Program uses a three-tier approach:
• Prevention and Advocacy by dissemination of information to further increase public awareness
• Protection and Reintegration by providing assistance to victims of trafficking who are returning to their countries of origin, both directly and via partner NGOs
• Partnership is the basis of all of CU’s counter-trafficking efforts.

Over 110,000 Ukrainians have suffered from human trafficking since 1991
Results of Law-enforcement activity on Counter-
Trafficking in Ukraine
Number of registered crimes filed by CT Department of MOI of Ukraine and number of verdicts passed by the courts of Ukraine according to Art. 149 (previously 124-1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (1998 – December 2011)
National Referral and Partnership Network in Ukraine
• 28 NGOs around Ukraine provide reintegration assistance to VoTs
• IOM Kyiv Medical Rehabilitation Centre established in 2002 assisted over 1,165 VoTs;
• 93% of VoTs are referred through national NGOs
• 43.9% are referred to NGOs by law enforcements and gvt agencies;
• 38.4% - by individuals incl. VoTs;
• 15% ID through NGO activities,
• 2.7% other
