Faulk Hot In November: Justin Faulk ranks second among NHL defenseman with nine points in November (2g, 7a). Faulk’s two
goals in the month rank him tied for third among defensemen and his seven assists are tied for second in the league. Three (1g, 2a)
of Faulk’s points this month came in Carolina’s 4-1 victory against Calgary on Nov. 10; It marked the second NHL career three-point
game for the 22-year old defenseman (12/5/13 at NSH : 1g, 2a). Only Calgary’s Mark Giordano has more points than Faulk this
month (4g, 8a).
Ward Between The Pipes: Cam Ward’s five-game winning streak was snapped on Nov. 13 in Carolina’s 3-1 loss against Winnipeg.
In that game, Ward made 34 saves and was named the game’s second star. Ward has posted a 1.57 goals-against average and
.942 save percentage in his seven November starts. He earned his fifth straight win on Nov. 10 against Calgary, stopping 22 of 23
Flames shots. Ward earned his first shutout since March 27, 2012, when he stopped all 25 shots he faced vs. Arizona on Nov. 1.

Success In The Circle: The Hurricanes rank third in the NHL with a 53.2 faceoff win percentage. Jay McClement ranks fourth in the
NHL winning 58.8 percent of his faceoffs; Victor Rask is 26th
in the league at 53.9 percent. Carolina finished the 2013-14 season
fourth in faceoff win percentage at 52.6 percent, marking the first time they finished a season in the top five of the league since the
2006-07 campaign (4th, 52.3%).
Penalty Free Is The Way To Be: Carolina ranks fourth in the NHL for fewest penalty minutes per game at 8.2; they allowed two
penalty minutes, tied for their season low, in Sunday’s loss to San Jose. The Hurricanes averaged just 7.9 penalty minutes per game
last season, the lowest average in the league. They became the first NHL team to average fewer than eight penalty minutes per
game since 1967-68, when Pittsburgh (7.4) and Chicago (7.9) accomplished the feat (credit: Elias Sports Bureau). The Hurricanes
committed two penalty minutes or fewer in eight games in 2013-14. On Jan. 27 vs. Columbus last season, they played their first
penalty-free game at home since April 4, 2008.
HURRICANES SET TO PARTICIPATE IN MOVEMBER
11 Hurricanes players will take part in Movember, sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Players Justin Faulk, Jiri
Tlusty, Jay McClement, Anton Khudobin, John-Michael Liles, Riley Nash, Brett Bellemore, Ryan Murphy, Chris Terry, Zach Boychuk
and Patrick Brown will grow mustaches during November to help raise money and awareness for the fight against prostate and
testicular cancers.
Fans are invited to join the Carolina Hurricanes presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina team, which is captained by
Faulk, by visiting CarolinaHurricanes.com/Movember. BCBSNC will match up to $10,000 in donations to the cause, and will host a
special “shave down” station on PNC Arena’s South Plaza prior to the Hurricanes’ game on Nov. 1 against the Arizona Coyotes.
BCBSNC will also distribute fake mustaches to fans in attendance at the team’s game on Nov. 29 against Pittsburgh, to celebrate the
conclusion of Movember.
