Background and
Problem
According to Pacific Business News (Aug. 2012), the amount of Chinese visitors to Hawaii so far in 2012 has risen 43 percent and these numbers are expected to continue to trend upwards.
Chinese visitors are staying longer and spending more than visitors from Japan (Hawaii Tourism Authority).
Starfire Hotels & Resorts frontline staff including front desk, housekeeping, room service, and bell service employees are not properly trained to interact with the Chinese visitors in culture and language.
