TransmissionsAll models feature the new ZF3WG161 transmission, which isdesigned for more intensiveapplications, and delivers increasedcooling performance, thanks to a heavyduty transmission oil pump (100L/minat 2000rpm), which ensures sufficientcooling oil flow for the clutches andtorque converter.
The transmission features a stiffertorque converter and optimised shiftpoints, which contribute to increasedefficiency and results in a 5% lowerfuel consumption. Lower noiseemissions from the ZF transmission areachieved through the use of helicalhigh contact gears.
A transmission is fitted with anautomatic gear-change system with acolumn-mounted lever or optional FDCpedal for direction changes. Extremelysmooth shifting and a forward-reverseshifting lock-out function are standardfeatures.
Power on DemandThe load-sensing hydraulic systemprovides hydraulic lifting powerproportional to the load being lifted.The load-sensing variable-displacement (VDP) pumps ensure thatthe engine supplies power to thehydraulic pumps only when required.This means that more engine power isavailable for driving, deliveringincreased responsiveness andacceleration for increased productivity.

Cooling SystemThe Quad-Cooler radiator contains fourseparate cooling cores for the engine,transmission, hydraulics and charge aircooler. The truck is designed tooperate in ambient temperatures of -18° C up to 50° C in normalapplications, or up to 45° C for heavyduty operations. The cooling air-intakeis located at the top of thecounterweight, to provide a cleaner air-flow.
Drive AxleThe wide AxleTech PRC-425 (8-12t) orPRC- 775 (13-16t) drive axle deliversexcellent sideways stability and long-term durability thanks to the fitment ofstrong end-reduction shafts and gears.
All models feature oil-immersed brakeson the drive axle, which are oil cooledfor durability and are virtuallymaintenance free. The parking brake isa dry disc brake on the drive axle inputshaft, which is spring applied andhydraulically released
Steer AxleThe hydrostatic steer axle features adouble-acting, single steering cylinderwith adjustable end stops. It isrenowned for its long lifespan and lowmaintenance requirements. Load-sensing power steering ensures low-effort operation under all operatingconditions
ChassisA rugged unitised frame structure isdesigned for tough, demandingapplications and offers excellentstability. All nominal capacities arerated to include the sideshift carriageand the mast is mounted to the frame,not the drive axle. The DC/EC serieshas been designed to handle loads tohigh lift heights and there is no reducedcapacity up to and including 6200 mm.
MastsYale Hi-VisTM Simplex and Triplex mastsafford operators outstanding visibility.Nested channel design incorporatesfull-face load rollers and side bearingblocks for durability and lateral rigidity.Rolled mast channels with a generousoverlap and formed cross-membersprovide high strength. The leaf-typechain provides superior strength.
CarriageThe standard carriage is a pin type,2350mm or 2500mm wide and is
efficiency saving by the ZFtransmission. In total this represents afuel saving of 10%.
Three pre-defined user modes (smooth,medium, direct) can be selectedthrough the user interface. Thesemodes allow fine-tuning of thehydraulic controls, to achieve the bestbalance for the operator and theapplication.
HydraulicsThe load-sensing hydraulic systemdelivers faster laden lift speeds andincreased auxiliary hydraulic speeds foroptimum productivity, especially whenusing attachments.
Leak-free ORFS (O-ring) type fittingsare used throughout the truck and thehydraulic oil tank is equipped with anexternal sight glass for oil level.
Hydraulic oil is effectively filtered atthree locations in the system. The filtersystem uses a full-flow return line filterwith 10 micron cartridge on the mainsystem and is designed to maintain ahigh cleanliness level, ensuring reliableand durable performance.
� 8-12t models also have the single 90cc VDP pump, with a lifting performance well suited to the practical needs in most applications.Optionally available are Dual 60cc VDP pumps (2x60cc per revolution, max. pump performance 262 l/min) providing up to 30% higher laden lifting speeds.

Protection SystemsThe engine, transmission and hydraulicprotection systems monitor operatingtemperatures and pressures, and aredesigned to ensure the highest level oftruck reliability and prevent unplanneddowntime, for maximum productivity.The systems initially derate the enginepower and finally (on engine andtransmission protection ) shut theengine down.

High performance Mode (HiP):Selects the engine power mode. In theHiP mode the maximum power andtorque is available for hydraulic anddrive functions..
Economy Mode (ECO-eLo): With akey switch the ECO-eLo engine powermode is enabled. Throttle reaction isless aggressive which saves the fuel.The maximum RPM is reduced to2000RPM, the duty cycle time isslightly impacted in this mode.
Alternate idle mode: The engine RPMis automatically reduced to stand-bymode if no functions are used for 30seconds. Stage IIIB engine normal idleis 900RPM (QSB4.5), 850 (QSB6.7), inalternate idle mode 800RPM (QSB4.5),750RPM (QSB6.7).
