design
The finishing process, which employs single-component water-based
products, is made up of four phases:
The color IMPREGNATING PRODUCT con-tains special pigments which penetrate the wood, thus preventing alteration caused by UV rays and the spreading of bacteria and fungi.
The INTERMEDIATE LAYER is meant to con-solidate the wood fibres so as to reduce micro-variations in size produced by variable weather conditions. The application of the impregnating product and the intermediate layer is performed in a flow-coating plant ensuring the perfect coating of the window with the lacquering product. POLISHING, performed by hand on all the win-dows/doors, has the purpose of attaining a po-
lished surface free from any asperity, giving it a smooth hand that enhances the appearance of the window/door.
The FINISH, applied with the help of an electro-static system in a controlled atmosphere, ensu-res the window/door is coated with the proper amount of paint so as to guarantee a perfect coating and protection of the wood, at the same time enhancing the beauty of the material.
The first in Italy after a unique and successful testing period, De Carlo performs the finishing cycle employing a nanotechnology-based coating. Thanks to this new technology, the coating particles are approximately 1000 times smaller in size than those of traditional
water-based coatings. Thus, thanks to the better chemical-physical properties of the coating, the result is a better adjustment of the coating to the wood’s coarseness. This ensures greater durability and the preservation of the product’s outer features.

nanotecnology
As a result of a research project performed in collaboration with the PRO.GE.S.A. (Design and Management of Agricultural and Forest Systems) Department of the University of Bari, an internal laboratory has been set up at the company’s facilities devoted to the research on and development of lacquering products. Every day, the lab provided with the most advanced equipment proves to be the best tool for the constant control of the entire lacquering process: from the
inspection for the acceptance of incoming lacquering products to the monitoring of the environmental parameters at the lacquering plant, from the evaluation of suppliers and proposed lacquering cycles to the assessment of the quality of the applied finishes. Moreover, the available equipment enables to offer particularly demanding customers the possibility of custom-made colours thanks to the use of a spectrophotometer
and an associated colourmeter system. The development and experimentation in this field enable to increasingly deepen the knowledge in relation to the best combinations between types of wood and paints with the help of a system for artificial ageing, which offers the possibility of simulating the effects of exposure to weather (rain, UV rays, humidity, temperature variations) of the paints in a short time.

In line with the growing attention to environmental issues, De Carlo resolutely adopted a policy for the responsible use of forest resources. Being the first in Italy in its specific sector, the company concluded both PEFC and FSC certification processes concerning the manufacturing cycle of a complete range of products, in relation to the ability of controlling the origin of raw materials and traceability along the manufacturing process (Chain of Custody.)
The PEFC system (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) was born as a non-profit voluntary initiative in the private sector. It was the result of a series of meetings of the representatives of forest owners of several promoting countries in Europe. The system implies the setting up of national PEFC structures in the different countries across the world, which should involve, upon the request of forest owners, all the most important parties concerned (trade associations, federations, etc.). The path proposed by the PEFC for sustainable forest management certification is based on specific standards including criteria that form the basis for the development of a national certification scheme able to meet the requirements of the definition of sustainable forest management, established by a “Pan-European Process” and endorsed by the Ministers of Forest Policies of 37 countries.
PEFCFSC is an international, independent, non-profit NGO including among its members environmental and social organizations, indigenous communities, forest owners, industries processing and dealing in timber, scientists and engineers, operating together to improve forest management throughout the world. The FSC brand identifies products containing timber from forests that are correctly and responsibly managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The forest such timber originates from is controlled and evaluated on an independent basis in compliance with these standards (principles and criteria of proper forest management), established and approved by the Forest Stewardship Council a.c. with the participation and approval of the parties concerned.

DeCarlo has furthered its commitment to the environment with the installation of solar collecting photovoltaic cells in two locations. Solar energy will now power the main factory in San Basilio along with an additional production facility located in Mottola, Italy. DeCarlo headquarters in San Basilio will produce 1,348,000 kWh per year, in addition to the plant in Mottola which will generate a total of 180,000 kWh annually.
We devote great attention to the various phases of this service, from the completion of the product to internal handling and transportation to the construction site.Actually, the NEW PACKAGING SYSTEM of the windows/doors provides for the covering of the entire door/window with a special focus on corner areas, where a wrapping of shaped cardboard ensures high protection, along with a heat-shrinking film against possible shocks during transport and when the windows/doors are
carried to their final destination. Moreover, the LABELING of each single piece provides any necessary information regarding the product and its distribution at the installation site. A LARGE FLEET OF VEHICLES operating on the entire domestic territory and exclusively dedicated to customer services ensures maximum effectiveness, prompt delivery and careful handling through the whole transportation process.

The laminated product is obtained from three layers of wood bonded with cross-directional fibres so as to balance the natural tension of the wood structure and ensure the stability of the window/door. Each wood processing phase is performed with the help of advanced methods and painstaking care so as to create a durable product with a sober and elegant look at the same time.

For interventions with period design, De Carlo created arched windows, French windows and glass walls. The range of arched windows is the result of a long experience combined with the most advanced technologies and meets the most diverse needs thanks to its great flexibility: round arches, pointed or segmental arches, as well as special curves following the profile of any kind of opening.
RADIUS WINDOWS
The preservation of historical structures is a tradition in Italy, It is a place where buildings are designed and contructed to stand for the ages. Windows however do not stand the same test of time that stone does, and often we are called upon to replace windows to the exact specifications of a 500 hundred year old building. Maintaining tradition and preserving quality are a part of our core values and while we embrace modernity we also cherish our history.

The interior beauty of finished wood with the refinement and elegance of a bronze exterior. Bronze cladding is truly a mix of the old world and the new, using modern technology to achieve high performance while maintaining its old world charm.
BRONZE CLADDING
Our continuous glass façades entail the use of a grid of laminated oak with stiles and rails to be assembled on-site; the cross-section of the wooden stiles and rails may vary according to the different static requirements, depending on the wind load and the size of the façade modules. The façade offers the possibility of including different kinds of windows with suitable frame profiles adapted to the modules of the wooden bearing structure. The following kinds of opening are available: casement, hinged-tilting, transom and projecting. The façade guarantees airtightness and watertightness and makes use of the “pressure equalization” principle. It also includes an outward draining system for possible small infiltration problems consisting of special grooves on the profiles, which also serve the purpose of enabling ventilation around the glazing. The choice of the soundproofing class of the façade should depend on the planned use of the interior and the outer noise level.
D WALL
This range was conceived to especially highlight the glazed elements, reducing the exposed frame part to a minimum, without having to give up the warmth and touch of class added by a wooden window. The system is preferably meant for one-sash windows.
EXTER GLASS
Strength and elegance are the inspiration for our Steel and Bronze collection. While Steel exibits a clean and durable modernity, Bronze creates a timeless permanance. Both metals achieve the duality of refined yet raw materials.
