PUBLISHING INFORMATION
Merry Christmas! As you read this article we have been
serenaded by the wonderfully talented Crestview High School Chorus. I look for-ward to the December breakfast every year. What an amazing group of young people! Do you realize that the Crestview High School Chorus has been entertaining us for at least 10 years? Thank you FirstNBC for your continued support and dedication to the Crestview Chamber’s December break-
fast and always including the Crestview High School Chorus in our fun for the morning. I leave this breakfast every year filled in my heart and mind with the spirit of the season.
The Crestview High School Chorus is presently in its’ six-teenth year of direction by Kevin Lusk. Mr. Lusk is a graduate of the Florida State University and has been directing choirs for 26 years. The CHS Chorus features five different choirs: Chanticleer, Destiny, Chorale, Women’s Choir, and Men’s Choir. Over the years, CHS Choirs have performed on the steps of the United States Capital in Washington D.C., at the Delores Basillica in San Francisco, at the St. George Cathedral in London, and three times on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York. Chanticleer and Destiny have frequently been featured at Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center, Animal Kingdom, Grand Floridian Hotel, and Downtown Marketplace. Since 1995, Chorale has been selected for eight performances of the Disney Candlelight Processional. For over a decade, CHS Choirs have consistently received Superior ratings at both Florida Vocal Association District and State level Music Performance Assessments. They have earned Gold and Silver ratings in national competitions in Georgia, Mississippi and California, and at an international festival at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. Individual choral students have been involved yearly in All County Choirs, All State choirs, and college honor choirs. The Crestview Choral program also performs locally throughout Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties. Credit: http://www.crestview-
bulldogs.org/performing-arts/chorus/If you want to see their full performance, check out the
Chamber’s website:http://www.crestviewchamber.com/events/ for the date and
time of their Winter Concert. In closing, from my family and Legacy Insurance we pray
for many blessings upon your family and business through this holiday season and in 2017.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year y’all! This year has truly flown by!
There are lots of great things coming up this month that you won’t want to miss out on. Our monthly Networking breakfast is on the 1st (I can’t wait to hear all the carols sung by the Crestview High School Chorus!), there is a ribbon cutting at the new Express Oil Change on the 6th, The Ambassador Committee is having a Christmas Mixer on the 8th, and don’t forget the Christmas Parade on Main Street on the 3rd! These are just a few of the events we’ll be having. Check the calendar at www.CrestviewChamber.com for
the full list. At the November Lunch and Learn someone said to me, “It seems like all of your
events are at times that I have to work”. I totally understand that. Sometimes it is hard to get out of the office just to grab a drive through lunch for five minutes, let alone go to a ribbon cutting or committee meeting. The truth is, we don’t expect any of our members to be at every single function. We are all employees, managers, or owners, of our businesses and the work that we do with the Chamber comes second. However, we try to spread the different Chamber gatherings out across the week so that you can attend when it’s convenient. If you can’t come to the breakfast this month, try to come to the After Hours. If you can’t come to the After Hours, maybe you could come have lunch with the Ambassadors Committee’s Let’s Do Lunch? Come when you can, as often as you can. And everyone will understand when you can’t.
As you look back on 2016 and all the time that you’ve spent with the Chamber, I hope it will bring you joy. We’ve had 12 months of entertaining breakfasts, a golf tour-
nament, a Health Fair, and a wildly successful Triple B- and that’s just to name a few things! It has been my honor to serve as the Chair-elect for the last 6 months and I’m looking forward to seeing what 2017 will bring! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope to see you soon!

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT:Freedom Tax Service Plus, LLC
Merry Christmas!
Christie Cadenhead
We (Bob and Joanne Fiddler) moved to the area in 2002 from Jacksonville in order to be closer to family in Okaloosa County. Former district managers with Jackson Hewitt, we decided to “go it alone” and opened Freedom Tax Service Plus, LLC in Crestview in the fall of 2002. After getting established, we recruited Joanne’s sister, Marcia Saranpa, away from her long career in the legal field to join in ownership.
People can have tax issues come up year-round, so being open year-round is a real plus for our clients. In addition to federal and state tax preparation services for individ-uals and small businesses, we provide small business bookkeeping and payroll services.
Okaloosa county is brimming with small businesses. At some point, a small business owner’s time is better spent doing the work of their business than fighting with bank statements and receipts—that’s when it makes sense for them to consider paying for bookkeeping services. Once a month they bundle up their business transactions and drop them on our desks. We enter all their business activity, reconcile all their accounts and produce reports for their review. When tax time rolls around, their tax return preparation is no longer a nightmare because the data has been captured throughout the year.
For small businesses with employees, our payroll services make payday hassles disap-pear. We produce payroll checks or sub-contractor checks in either hard copy or direct deposit. We make all required payroll tax deposits and file all state and federal payroll tax returns. At the end of the year we handle production of W2’s or 1099’s.
Our staff, our Freedom “family”, is the key to the success we’ve enjoyed all these years. Our ability to retain our staff means that clients are able to see the same preparer year after year. Each year, every employee completes many, many hours of continuing education, so you can have confidence that you are dealing with competent folks. Each of our preparers is listed in the IRS’s nationwide listing of tax professionals (http://irs.treasury.gov/rpo/rpo.jsf ) which was published for the first time in 2015. Inclusion in the listing requires preparers to register with the IRS, complete many continuing education hours, and pass a competency exam. Should we encounter a situation that requires additional research, our membership in the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) gives us a “lifeline” to highly trained CPAs and Tax Attorneys.
For more information, please visit our website at www.freedomtaxplus.com , stop by to see us at 417 Stillwell Blvd. in Crestview, or give us a call at 683-1040!

It's almost the end of the City of Crestview’s Centennial year, and what a year it’s been. Since the first program in January depicting how Crestview became the County Seat, it has been a great trip so far. Gee, it’s True! Time flies when you are having a good time.
Late October brought us the Fall Festival, with one of the largest gather-ing. Weather was beautiful, and children and adults alike had great fun. The Veteran’s day parade brought out one of the largest crowds in recent history for this event. It was so great to see all the flags being waved as the parade participants went down Main Street, and what a beautiful Ceremony at the Courthouse Terrace following the parade.
Our Final event for the Centennial Year will be the Christmas Through the Decades parade on December 3 at 5:30 PM on Historic Main Street. Come out and help Crestview welcome the season, and of course, SANTA CLAUS!
Thanks to all the groups who have helped make this year so special. The Crestview Centennial committee, along with the City of Crestview, Main Street Crestview, and the Crestview Redevelopment agency all did a tre-mendous job keeping everything organized and moving. There were many other groups that helped out this year. Don’t want to miss one, so will have a complete list in next month’s focus. It takes a Village to celebrate 100 years, and the City of Crestview Centennial has had that Village to make this year a success.
Collectible Coins continue to be available at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall along with the Main Street Association Centennial Cookbooks. Several merchants on Main Street also have the cookbooks available.

A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORFIRST NBC BANK EXPANDS ITS SERVICENOW IN CRESTVIEW, DESTIN, AND MIRAMAR BEACH
First NBC Bank’s continued growth in the Florida panhandle is the barometer that lets Floridians know the Bank’s community commitment is here to stay.
The Bank is known for partnering with the business community and reputable non-profit organizations that raise the living standard for residents wherever it does business.
Whether its employees working with the Crestview Chamber of Commerce or volunteering their time to feed the hungry, First NBC Bank makes positive contributions each day it opens its doors to the community.
First NBC Bank became a part of the Florida financial landscape in 2015 after acquiring First National Bank of Crestview. Its footprint has now expanded to Miramar Beach and Destin.
Top executives say the economic marriage between the New Orleans based Bank and Florida was natural since many of the bank’s New Orleans clients already do business in the Panhandle and own properties in the Great State of Florida.
Members of the First NBC Bank Board of Directors are quick to express their appreciation and gratitude to customers in both states. They view the future for the New Orleans Metropolitan Area, the Florida Panhandle, and First NBC as one with great promise as they build upon the collective successes of both economies over the years.
