Research Areas
Nuclear Structure Physics (mainly experimental but also familiar with a variety of theoretical
approaches): Gamma ray spectroscopy, heavy-ion induced nuclear fusion evaporation reactions,
lifetime measurements of nuclear high spin states by Doppler shift attenuation method, proton-
neutron coupling schemes, nuclear symmetry breaking, magnetic and anti-magnetic rotation in
nuclei, study of the role of nuclear isospin in neutron rich nuclei.
Nuclear fission studies in sub-barrier region: measurement of fission cross-section, and energy,
mass, charge and angular distribution of fission fragments, ternary fission, prompt-fission gamma-
ray studies (present work).
Technical Skills
Experimental:-
Involvement in the detector development for photo-fission experiments with the gamma-beam
system at ELI-NP.
Fission detectors, Silicon strip detectors, related readout electronics.
Handling and working with gamma ray detectors (HPGe clovers and LaBr3), array of detectors.
Data acquisition and data analysis techniques used for the acquisition and analysis respectively of
the huge experimental data of gamma spectroscopy and lifetime measurements.
Participation in various collaborative experiments.
Theoretical:-
Semi-classical particle-rotor model (SCM) calculations using Fortran programing language.
Tilted axis cranking (TAC) calculations for the study of excited multi-quasiparticle nuclear states.
Theoretical work to study the role of nuclear isospin in neutron rich nuclei using Fortran programing
language
Data Evaluation:-
Contributed in the data evaluation of 189Pb and 189Tl. The evaluated data files are available in the
ENSDF database.
