Mobile Based Ticketing for Delhi
MetroA Concept Sketch by Viraj Verma
Goal and Sprint Questions
GOAL : Make DMRC passengers adopt smartphone-ticketing over card-ticketing
Design Sprint Questions ( Dangerous Assumptions) :
1. Will People find it easier to recharge over phone than standing in a queue?
2. What happens if a phone gets switched off/lost while exiting?
3. Use of data is not necessary but even if it is, will people hesitate to use 3G-4G data?
4. Will all sections of the society be able to adopt the tech?
5. Will server respond soon enough to avoid queue of any sort?
6. Can user rely on his/her app rather than announcements (update in schedule)?

Estimated 98% of daily commuters who know their route can transact with this single screen on the app.
People who need route info can simply click the button and get it offline.

3. Maitree will send push notifications for Heritage Delhi Tour on Weekends and make the experience interactive
4. The solution is a bit futuristic but would certainly be well adopted in the age of whatsapp and Allo
Design Sprint Answers (user testing will validate) :Q. Will People find it easier to recharge over phone than standing in a queue?
Answer – Yes They will. Once they see App ads or other people using a separate queue to enter, they might switch to try it once ( and probably get a first ride free)
Q. What happens if a phone gets switched off/lost while exiting?
Answer – Guard will come to rescue the user to the dedicated counter for updating user’s trip detail and exiting.
Q. Use of data is not necessary but even if it is, will people hesitate to use 3G-4G data?
Answer – The most basic function ( trip and route info) can be accessed offline with updated on splash screen.
Q. Will all sections of the society be able to adopt the tech?
Answer – With hindi and english as a language and single screen , it is possible
Q. Will server respond soon enough to avoid queue of any sort?
Answer – Will have to ask the experts
Q. Can user rely on his/her app rather than announcements (update in schedule)?
Asnwer – Yes n No . Real time updates is heavy on the system but can be managed through notifications. Major rate/route update will be taken care by the res file
Testing• Making a prototype and testing it with at least 5 users
will validate our assumptions
