DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL,
SUSHANT LOK
Class XI
(2019-20)
Orientation Programme for Parents
Your ward has entered the +2 stage. The+2 refers to the two years of studying postclass X which is a specialized streamchosen by your ward. Class XI is thefoundation year of class XII with success inclass XI being critical to success in class XII.Both the curriculum and all the detailspertaining to the examination, syllabus andchoice of subjects at this level is governedby CBSE and its Bye laws.
Choice of Stream and Subjects
The school offers three streams
➢HUMANITIES ;
➢COMMERCE with or without MATHS
➢SCIENCE ; PCM, PCB
Every child is expected to have five main
subjects – English and four others.
We hope that the subjects have been chosen keeping in mind yourward’s interest as well as abilities. Because every child is different withhis/her own strengths and weaknesses. So before registration pleaselook at the subjects chosen honestly and realistically, independent ofthe marks he/she has secured in the class X board exams andregardless of whether your ward makes the minimum qualifying marksfor a particular stream. This is as we do not want to put the studentunder undue stress and pressure.
If you feel that your ward is finding it difficult to cope up witha specific subject, it would be better to change it beforeregistration. By the time of Registration, two rounds of FA'swould be over which would be good indicators of your ward'sability to handle a subject.
The board also gives the students the option of choosing an additionalsixth subject. In our school we offer Physical Education or Painting asthe additional sixth subject.
The purpose of the sixth subject is twofold.
➢ The sixth subject can become a savior for your ward.
➢ The sixth subject can improve the aggregate percentage of your ward.
Optional Sixth Subject
Sometimes we insist upon 6th subject on thebasis of the student’s performance if we feel thatthe child might struggle to cope up with one ofthe main subjects. Kindly take the school’s adviceseriously.
It becomes difficult to change subjectslater on as CBSE is becoming increasinglystrict about change of subjects later on.
You may drop the 5th Subject and take the6th as your 5th but replacing a main subjectwith another new subject in class XII maynot be a possibility next year.
CBSE Registration in Class XI:
Student’s details and the subjects chosen by them areregistered with CBSE in September. These subjects are thencontinued in class XII.
White forms seeking information will be sent to you in theFirst Week of August.
All 5 subjects chosen and the sixth one is to be filled in it.
The information filled in it will be used for CBSEregistration for class XI.
All data is to be filled very clearly and cautiously. Avoid anyoverwriting in it. Any errors will lead to problems incertificates issued later on in Class XII.
The special/additional documents required for registration(OBC certificate, medical assessment reports in case ofstudents with special needs, copy of Aadhaar card of studentetc.) to be submitted to the class teacher along with thewhite forms.
