An initial analysis by Indonesian weather agency BMKG has found that conditions at the time of the disappearance of QZ8201 suggest it likely flew into a storm. Bad weath-er has continued to hamper the search process, despite this, several large objects have now been found in the Java Sea r e p o r t e d l y wreckage from the A320.
“From our data it looks like the last location of the plane had very bad weather and it was the biggest factor behind the crash,” said Professor Edvin Aldrian, head of research at BMKG, according to the BBC.
The flight departed from Juanda International Airport, Surabaya,
at 05:35 and was scheduled to ar-rive at Singapore Changi Airport at 08:30. The plane was under Indo-nesian air traffic control (Jakarta) when it requested and received permission for deviation from its original flight path because of poor weather conditions.
Officials have said the A320 was cruising at 32,000ft when it re-quested to climb higher to 38,000ft to avoid the stormy weather. Ex-perts said there was evidence of ex-tremely icy conditions at the higher altitude and some investigators are reported to believe that the plane
may have gone into an aerodynam-ic stall as the pilot climbed steeply.
However other reports indicate the request to climb was deferred by air traffic controllers because of heavy air traffic: there were several other aircraft in the vicinity, all at higher
altitudes. The final altitude indicated by the ADS-B tran-sponder and collected by Flightradar24 was 32,000 ft. The aircraft
lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control at 06:17 while travelling near Belitung Island, over the Java Sea between Kalimantan (Borneo) and Java. A meteorological analy-sis revealed that the aircraft was

Avolon firms up order for 15 A330neo air-craft
Avolon, the Dublin-based, global aircraft leasing firm, has firmed up its contract for 15 A330neo aircraft. Avolon became one of the launch cus-tomers of the A330neo after signing its initial commitment in July 2014 at the Farnborough In-ternational Airshow. The A330-800neo and the A330-900neo are two new members of the Air-bus Widebody Family launched in July 2014 with
traversing a storm cluster during the minutes prior to its disap-pearance.
unverified reports have also surfaced that AirAsia didn’t have permission to fly from Surabaya to Singapore on the Sunday morning that Flight 8501 crashed into the Java Sea. Transport Ministry spokesman J.A. Barata said the airline was only permit-ted to fly the route on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Satur-days. “So AirAsia has committed a violation of the route that has been given to them,” Mr. Barata told The Wall Street Journal. He said the company’s flights from Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city, to Singapore had consequently been suspended.
As of this writing, 30 bodies have been recovered from the sea but the search for the black box and flight recorder continues.
