PREFACE
I sincerely feel that it is my supreme privilege to submit the Self Study Report (SSR)
of our college to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore for
Cycle-I Accreditation.
The preparation of this document has given a lot of information, knowledge,
experience and exposure to our faculty who were seriously and sincerely involved in the
process all along.
The process resulted in introspection, consultation, exchange of views with the
stakeholders and analysis of the existing Internal Quality System and a study of the growth of
the institution after the second accreditation. All these inputs have been discussed thoroughly
while preparing this document.
The steering committee had a series of meetings to discuss the various ways and
means to get the college accredited for the first time. Different sub-committees were formed
and specific tasks and responsibilities were entrusted. The steering committee sought
adequate information from all sub-committees, HODs and office staff. I am very much
satisfied that I received all the required information well in time.
I acknowledge the whole hearted involvement and co-operation of the Faculty
members. T.H.Basavaraj, coordinator of NAAC and coordinator of IQAC. Members of the

Total estimated cost for the construction of the full pledged college building is
Rs.6,28,02,000/-.Initially Government of Karnataka has sanctioned of Rs.200 lakhs for the

about their academic ability by their performance in the previous examinations. The
Institution conducts orientation and bridge courses for new comers to provide curricular
connectivity and to assess the skills and needs of the students through one to one oral
interaction. Bridge ourselves the teachers to concentrate on slow learners.
2.2.3 What are the strategies adopted by the institution to bridge the knowledge gap of the
enrolled students (Bridge/ Remedial/Add-on/Enrichment Courses, etc.) to enable them
to cope with the programme of their choice?
Most of the students come from nearby villages .Rural background probably leads to
lack of confidence as compared to the urban students .This parity has to be bridged. For this,
before commencement of the session, admitted students are given Bridge classes so as to
enable them to cope up with the syllabus of the course chosen.
Fresher’s are familiarized with the campus facilities through various activities
conducted by NSS, Rangers, Cultural committee and other wings. Enrichment courses like
personality development programmes (Vikasana, Sa5hayog, Manavathe, Angla,
Naipunyanidhi ,Tele-education) are also conducted to improve students’ personality and
motivate them to acquire innovative and creative mindset. Whenever a slow learner is
identified, the mentor helps him/her with counseling.

books from library.
• Special coaching classes are organized to clarify doubts and to overcome the
difficulties.
2.2.6 How does the institute collect, analyze and use the data and information on the academic
performance(through the programme duration) of the students at risk of drop out (students
from the disadvantaged sections of society, physically challenged, slow learners,
economically weaker sections etc. who may discontinue their studies if some sort of
support is not provided)?
Once the admission process is complete, based on the documents produced by the
students, the college office segregates students based on their economic background, academic
performance and physical disabilities. So that measures are taken to ensure adequate facility
for such students in the college.
To uphold their economic conditions, the students are informed about the various
scholarships provided by the government and other private welfare associations. Further, the
students are assisted to avail different scholarships like SC/SC, OBC, SanchiHonnamma, and
Minority scholarships for which they are eligible. The students from far off places are assisted
for admission in nearby government hostels and the day scholars who travel daily are helped to
get their bus passes so as to avoid inconvenience and long wait in the bus stand.
The students with poor academic performance are encouraged to make use of the library
facilities specially extended to them. The teachers often in the classes encourage the students to
continue their studies by highlighting the avenues kept open after the successful completion of
their studies and provide moral support in every walk during their academic journey in the
college.

meaningful way. Films and documentaries related to the curriculum are screened and students
are encouraged to participate in the group discussion.

To create awareness among the public about AIDS prevention and Blood Donation.
The practice:
Blood Donation camps that have been organized between 2011 & 2016 four of which
were organized by the NSS unit in co-ordination with the Red Ribbon Club headed by the
programme officer T.H.Basavaraj. Two of the Blood Donation Camps have been organized
between 2015- and 2016 under Red Cross Unit having Dr.Kurubara Venkatesh and
Mr.T.H.Basavaraj as coordinators of the two units of Red Cross that function in our college.
Resource persons from health department were invited to deliver special lecturers on
AIDS prevention and awareness about Blood Donation. Dr.Keshavamurthy, District head of
the AIDS prevention society had come down to the college, and delivered a virtual lecture
with audio-visual aids. Dr.B.Jambaiha Taluk health officer, visited the college couple of
times when we had organized Blood Donation and health checkup camps. While at the time
of his visit he had addressed our students extensively regarding the significance of Blood
donation.
Evidence of Success:
In 2011, 38 students, 2012-32,2013-43,2014-28,2015-69 and in 2016-100 students
have donated blood along with the people of the locality where NSS camps were organized.
Inspired by the progress. The response Red Cross unit has decided to organize Blood
donation camps at regular intervals. Over whelmed by the enthusiastic no. of donors
Vivekananda Charitable Trust has voluntarily donated a water cooler of 500 liter capacity to
the college.
Problems encountered and Resources Required:
Inspite of the allocated funds, local resources were mobilized to meet out the
expenses. The faculty members encouraged the students and trained them to participate in
blood donation camps and the way to create awareness among public about the disease. The
college development council members also cooperate with the institution.
