ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
Recent years have seen a paradigm shift in the
emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility and
Corporate Philanthropy. The corporate legislation
in India mandates that a company must spend 2%
of its profits on social causes. As per the recent
reports, the total corporate social responsibility
(CSR) spending by the top 500 companies in the
country since the applicability of mandatory CSR
in 2014 is around ₹50,000 crore by March 2019.
In this context this symposium is proposed to
discuss the broad philosophy behind the emphasis
on social responsibility and how corporate bodies
are rising to the occasion to meet this need. We
also wish to discuss the direction that these
activities should take as well take a cue from
current practices.
