A TOWN BUILT ON TERRACOTTA TRADITIONS
e town of Lincoln was built on railroads and terracotta. Originally surveyed by engineer eodore Judah in 1859, the area was mapped out as a town site by the town’s namesake, California Central Railroad President Charles Lincoln Wilson. When the railroad nally came through a few years later in 1861, the edgling town experienced a short-lived prosperity until the line’s terminus moved north. By the late 1800’s, the community’s economy centered on agriculture, with ranching, orchards, and fruit packing sheds providing employment to much of the town’s population.
In the 1870’s, the Ione Clay Formation was unearthed, attracting the attention of Charles Gladding of Chicago. He found the abundant deposit of white kaolin clay to be perfectly suited to his pottery manufacturing needs and in May of 1875, he founded the Gladding, McBean Company with partners Peter McGill McBean and George Chambers. e company came to be known as the largest ceramics manufacturer in the world by the 1950’s, and was the cornerstone of Lincoln’s economy. eir product line, which originally consisted of clay water and sewer pipes for towns all over California, grew over time to include re brick, roof tile, chimney pipes, ornamental garden pottery, dinnerware, and architectural terra cotta facades, building some of the state’s most signicant historical landmarks, including the Ventura
County Courthouse, tile roofs on several major structures on the Stanford University campus, and San Francisco’s City Hall. For over a century, Gladding, McBean & Co. has weathered mergers and acquisitions and economic ups and downs to remain in business to this day.
More recently, Lincoln has gained the distinction of being home to the rst casino in the Sacramento area. In 2004, the under Valley Casino Resort opened its doors, remaining in continuous operation every day since. e AAA Four Diamond award winning resort features luxury accommodations, ne dining, and over 250,000 square feet of gaming space. In 2006, the National Civic League named Lincoln an All-America City, the only California city honored that year. e annual award recognizes those communities whose citizens “work together to identify and tackle community-wide challenges and achieve uncommon results.”
Lincoln’s Chamber of Commerce, established in February of 1909, was founded with an initial membership of 26. Bill Ingram, proprietor of the Lincoln Drug Store, was elected as the chamber’s rst President, Frank Sanders, popular editor of the Lincoln News Messenger, was Secretary, and Walter Jansen “Grain Merchant of Western Placer County,” served as its Treasurer.
e Chamber’s inaugural project was to sponsor Lincoln’s 50th birthday celebration. e celebration’s highlight was a huge parade with numerous oats, bands, and marching groups. Exhibits were on display in a tent pavilion especially erected for the occasion near the depot, much to the surprise and delight of residents and visitors who arrived by train. e day-long gala culminated with a ball game between Newcastle and Gridley and a well-attended dance.

Economic Development
POSITIONING LINCOLN FOR RETAIL AND INDUSTRIAL MARKET GROWTHe City of Lincoln has made critical investment in planning to support its economic development eorts over recent years. Anticipating the opening of the SR 65 bypass, which occurred in
2012, the City completed a Market Analysis and Strategic Action Plan for Downtown Lincoln. e City’s Economic Development Committee completed an Economic Development Strategic Action Plan in 2013. Key data development and analysis was conducted through the Go to Market Strategy completed in 2013. And the City invested in economic development staªng rst by retaining a consulting team and ultimately by hiring a dedicated Economic Development Manager in late 2014.
In addition to this planning work, important infrastructure investments following completion of the SR 65 bypass have been made recently or are under construction. One project is the widening of Nelson Lane between SR 65 and Aviation Boulevard, which was completed in 2014. is single project dramatically improved access to the Lincoln AirCenter where the Lincoln Regional Airport and a key regional business park are located. Over 2 million square feet of Class A industrial space once nearly forgotten are now prominent regional opportunities for growth
and expansion. e Nelson Lane project also positions adjacent property for regional retail development.
Another investment is the Lincoln Boulevard streetscape project, which is under construction and scheduled for completion in Fall of 2015. e project will make street improvements and associated landscape design to improve the traªc operations for all modes of transportation, including much improved facilities for pedestrians along Lincoln Boulevard. ese improvements will enhance the environment for visitors and support the growing economic vitality in Downtown Lincoln.
Taken together, recent investments in economic development planning and critical infrastructure position the City of Lincoln to accommodate new growth and to strengthen its role as a hub of economic growth in south Placer County. Companies such as Rogers Family Coee and Gulfstream are making new investments in Lincoln and expanding employment. Retailers including Taco Bell, Big 5 and Filco are also making signicant investments which, in turn, lead to further expansion of the retail base.
Now is a time of great opportunity for the City of Lincoln, its residents and businesses. e City’s focus on planning and consistent investment in infrastructure is paying dividends that will continue to grow over time.

Lincoln Theatre Company
Art League of Lincoln
A CREATIVE HUB IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN
COMMUNITY THEATER SHOWCASED IN LINCOLN
“Art is important to a community because it brings beauty into everyday life. It helps to teach an element that’s outside of our reality,” says Jean Cross, creative director of the Art League of Lincoln. “It’s an important part in all of our lives, to appreciate what’s all around us.”
e Art League of Lincoln was founded three years ago with the goal of being a creative hub for the community. e all-volunteer
organization hosts monthly exhibits showcasing new exhibits, conducts art classes for youths, adults and seniors, and showcases art and artists. “We’re not just an organization for artists; this is not an art club. We are supported by people who believe that art is important to a community,” Cross explains. “I think it’s important to our children, not only in the sense of creating something but just looking around at things.”
Cross’ recent focus has been to collaborate with other local organizations to promote art and artists throughout the Lincoln community.
Cross is also in the planning stages of a community-wide art exhibition. “I had a vision of artist-decorated clay pipes. Gladding, McBean is the oldest entity in town and one of their product lines is pipes. Starting with Beermann Plaza, there would be [several] sites around town,” she explains. “My idea is to get a lot of artists or people with dierent ideas [to decorate pipes] and then install them around town. And then create a walking map so that people can go around and nd out, as they see pieces, who did it, why they did it and if there was a sponsor involved.”
“My focus, since January, has been community involvement [and] public art, like the pipes, and the classes, because I want us to be seen as a community experience, rather than a little art club that has little art shows in our little art building,” Cross says. “I want people to see us as an integral part of the community.”
e Lincoln eatre Company has brought community theater back to Lincoln.
With three productions under its belt, the nonprot performing arts organization is establishing itself as a cultural asset to the local community.
Founded in 2012, the company was originally aªliated with the Art League of Lincoln, until branching o on its own in 2014.
Since then, company members have produced productions of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” “Love Letters” and Neil Simon’s “California Suite,” performing each time in dierent theater venues.
Since mid-2015, the Lincoln eatre Company is working with the city to refurbish the historic Civic Auditorium on 5th Street into a performance center for the community, restoring the building, which was built in 1921, back to its role of the community’s cultural center.
“ere’s clearly a demand for community theater in our area,” says Paul Schechter, president of the Lincoln eatre Company’s board of directors. “ere used to be several active adult community theaters in other areas nearby but they have become, for the most part, children’s theaters, leaving a void for adult-focused community theater. With the three productions that we’ve already produced, we believe that there is a strong audience in the city of Lincoln [and surrounding communities] and we believe we’ve proven that there’s a market for it here.”

From summer peaches to winter squash, Farmers’ Markets are a great way to get the freshest produce available, bringing a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables straight from the farmer to your plate.
Consumers are also given a chance to get to know the farmers and the artisans that create the food they eat.
“ere are a lot of local growers and it’s a good resource to have local [produce] available to the community without having to go to each individual farm,” explains Billie Jean Salle, of Salle Orchards. “ey come to the market, they eat fresh, it’s healthier, it’s usually better avors and it’s a good interaction.”
Lincoln oers two weekly Farmers’ Markets during the week.
On ursday nights from June through August, downtown Lincoln hosts a market featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, eggs, baked goods and myriad other artisan crafts.
On Wednesday mornings, the market can be found at Sun City Lincoln Hills’ Orchard Creek Lodge, which features a dozen farmers and a handful of craft vendors.
“We want to let people know that it is open to the public because some people think that, since it’s here in Sun City, that it’s exclusive to residents,” explains Lifestyle Manager Lavina Samoy. “It’s open to the public and it has a variety of items like fresh owers, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables. We always have the Davis Bread Company and e Whistle Stop Café oers breakfast items.”
Play golf in the rolling hills of Lincoln at the three 18 hole courses. ere are two 18-hole championship courses located within Del Webb’s Sun City Lincoln Hills Community. ey were designed by Billy Casper/Greg Nash, and create two distinct 18-hole layouts with traditional out-and-back congurations. e Lincoln Hills Golf Club is privately owned by Billy Casper. Golf at Turkey Creek has challenges that will meet every level of player’s needs.
Join the many local bicyclists on the numerous back roads around Lincoln. Join the thousands of dedicated cyclists in the annual Tour De Lincoln, held in May each year. e Tour is a benet bike ride for the Volunteer Center and has grown annually to over 900 cyclists in 2009. e Tour oers a wonderful Spring day of riding the scenic back roads of Lincoln and South Placer County.

AAA FOUR DIAMOND AWARD WINNING RESORT OFFERS WORLD-CLASS LUXURY AND ENTERTAINMENT
In June, under Valley Casino Resort celebrated its 12th anniversary.
at’s 4,380 days of continuous, 24-hour a day operation. Located 30 miles east of Sacramento, the casino features more than 250,000 square feet of gaming space, including 2,500 slot and video machines, 103 table games and a live poker room with space for 240 players.
e 17-story luxury hotel boasts 297 rooms, including 40 suites, 14 restaurants and bars, an expansive outdoor pool with private cabanas, a luxurious spa, a state-of-the-art entertainment amphitheater, and for those looking to tie the knot, a full-service wedding venue.
Opened in 2003, under Valley is an AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort destination.
“It is unlike anything else anyplace in Northern California in terms of the quality of food, the service and the variety. At under Valley, you can enjoy not only the experience of entertainment, you can enjoy the opportunity to gamble, if that’s your interest, and you can also stay at the hotel, take advantage of our spa, which is amazing in and of itself, or our outdoor swimming pool with cabanas that are the envy of probably every business in and around Northern California,” says spokesman Doug Elmets. “under Valley is one of the few hotels and casinos in the Northern California region that is a Four Diamond resort. e casino resort is really a destination, which I think is dierent than other casinos throughout California.”
Dining options abound, ranging from gourmet ne dining to fast food on the go. High Steaks steakhouse, under Valley’s crown jewel, is also an AAA Four Diamond award-wining restaurant. Hungry diners can also choose from the all-you-can-eat Buet, Red Lantern Chinese
restaurant, under Cafe or the fast food court which is open 24 hours a day.
under Valley is also an entertainment destination, attracting musicians, comedians and athletic events, as highlighted with the annual Summer Concert Series.
“We have entertainment in our outdoor amphitheater, which seats 5,000 people and has a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. It has two large video screens that ank the main stage and we have fantastic artists that come through,” Elmets says. “e beauty of the venue is that it’s small enough that you feel as if you’re part of the experience. You can go to [other] places and you feel like you’re not really in that intimate setting, unlike this where you really feel like you’re part of the entertainment and excitement.”
For couples looking to tie the knot, under Valley provides a full-service, one-stop wedding shop.
“under Valley is the place where you can come and you don’t have to worry about anything. e sta takes care of everything from the set-up all the way through the break-down at the very end,” explains Hotel and Catering Sales Manager Hilary Grider, who also serves as a certied wedding planner. “Honestly, the sky is the limit. If you ask for it and you can dream it, we can provide it here. It’s hard to say ‘no’ because we truly do deliver such a great product. ere’s a lot of attention to detail here. Whatever you can dream, we can create here.”
“If couples want to stay a few days after and use it as a mini-honeymoon because they can’t get away due to work schedules, that’s something they can do here,” Grider adds.

THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO AT THIS ACTIVE-ADULT COMMUNITY
Since 1999, the Sun City Lincoln Hills community has been a “cosmopolitan microcosm of a big city,” according to Jeannie Balcombe, Senior Director of Lifestyle and Communications. e sprawling active-adult community boasts myriad amenities for residents and the general public, including two tness centers, ne dining, golf courses, and myriad clubs and hobby groups. “We’ve got, [residents] 55 years of age all the way to 103, and these are folks who are still very active, most of them are retired, most of them are doing their third act in the sense that they’re nding their latest passion,” says Balcombe.
Sun City has two main recreation centers within the nearly 3,000 acres of landscaped grounds, the Orchard Creek and Kilaga Springs Lodges. While several amenities are exclusive to residents, such as their tness centers, clubs, and activity groups, many of them are open to the public. Meridian’s restaurant, one of Lincoln’s hidden ne dining gems, is open daily to the general public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. e menu, which features made-from-scratch California-style cuisine as well as comfort foods, changes quarterly to reect the freshest seasonal produce available. e restaurant boasts an elegant decor, with views of the beautifully
landscaped grounds, and outdoor dining options on the patio. e near-by sports bar oers lighter fare as well. A private room is available to accommodate small parties celebrating birthdays, showers, or engagement parties. At the Kilaga Springs Lodge, the public is welcome at the spa and can also grab a small bite to eat at the Kilaga Springs Cafe, and enjoy lunch amid a tranquil Zen garden.
Sun City Lincoln Hill’s Orchard Creek Lodge has been voted one of the region’s best wedding venues for the past two years running. “We were rated the best wedding venue from Sacramento to Tahoe in e Knot wedding publication, which we’re very proud of,” says Sun City’s Director of Food and Beverage, Jerry McCarthy. “It’s really hard to win it, rst of all, and then to do two years back to back, we’re really proud of that.”
e full-service wedding venue has much to oer brides and grooms on their big day. According to McCarthy, the combination of beautifully landscaped grounds, quality service, and gourmet catering makes Orchard Creek Lodge a perfect place for couples looking for a place to hold weddings and receptions. “When you put all three of those together, we’re virtually impossible to beat,” he says.

COFFEE COMPANY MAKES THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE CUP AT A TIME
On a good day, you can smell the Rogers Family Company coee roasting plant from all the way down the street. e family-owned-and-operated company was founded in the Bay Area, moved to a half-million-square-foot facility in Lincoln six years ago and has continued to grow steadily since then.
“Our whole [philosophy] is to try to make a better gourmet coee and sell it at a reasonable price,” says Vice President of Sales Jim Rogers. “We were founded about 35 years ago by my father, John Rogers, who, I like to joke, had four kids about to go into college and he took all their college money and started this company. Over the past 35 years, it’s been a lot of fun.”
e company produces several lines of coee and tea products, including the San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coee, the Organic Coee Company, Fairwinds Coee, Black Mountain Coee and East India Tea. One of their popular products is their OneCup single serve coee, which work with multiple K-Cup brewing systems.
“We loved the idea of how simple the K-Cup platform is and we loved the idea that each person can choose their own kind of coee but what we hate is the plastic,” says Jim Schuett, art and web director. “We came out with a version that is 97-percent biodegradable; we’re
‘this’ close to being 100-percent biodegradable, we’re working on it. It creates a great cup of coee and you can throw it away without any worries about it being in a landll for the next 400 years.”
e Rogers Company, which sources its fairly-traded coee beans directly from growers in Central America and Africa, is committed to improving the lives of the farmers with whom they do business. e company supports social projects such as housing, education and medical facilities through its Community Aid program that seeks to alleviate poverty and safeguard the environment in coee farming communities.
A local Lincoln coee shop and retail establishment is currently in the works, with plans focusing on a site in the Twelve Bridges area, tentatively set to open in fall 2015.
“We always thought that having coee shops would be a great way for our brand to get recognition, to be known in the marketplace,” Schuett says. “We also think that it’s a fantastic place for us to be able to try out our premium lines and really get some [feedback] from actual customers.”
Until then, Rogers coee brands can be found online.

GOATHOUSE BREWING COMPANY
INFUSION TAPROOM
If you nd something you like at GoatHouse Brewing Company, get it while you can! e farmhouse brewery specializes in small, seasonal, artisanal batches of beer featuring the 20 varietals of hops grown on site
Infusion Taproom, Lincoln’s newest watering hole slated to open its doors in July, will feature 20 rotating label of local and regional craft beers and ciders on tap and bottled.

at the 11-acre farm in Lincoln.
“Everything is very seasonal. What’s in season now, you get now. So when the citrus is gone, the beers made with citrus are gone. ey don’t come back until the next harvest,” says Cathy Johnson, who owns and runs the business with her husband, brew master Michael Johnson.
From Pilsners and IPA’s to dark ales and stouts, the nanobrewery’s tasting room typically features eight or nine beers at a time, an impressive selection considering each batch only yields about six kegs. Seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey produced on the farm are incorporated into brews as well. With their brewery in such close proximity to their hops supply, GoatHouse is known for their fresh-hopped beers, which is only available annually during the summer harvest time.
“e sky is the limit as to what you can add in and create with, just like with a chef. ere’s so many varietals that you can ri on and come up with. It’s all up to the palate and the style of the brewer who does it,” Cathy Johnson explains.
“It’s denitely a passion. We’re putting what we love and what we believe in out for people to experience and enjoy. ere’s denitely a risk in that but there’s huge rewards,” she adds. “is is our world and we’re very proud of what we’ve created.”
Conveniently located on Twelve Bridges Drive just o of Highway 65, the “hoppiest place in Lincoln” will focus on highlighting local Placer County craft beers from breweries such as Knee Deep, Auburn Ale, Loomis Basin, Roseville Brewing Company and Lincoln’s own GoatHead Brewery.
“We want to be able to showcase our local breweries and so we’re shooting for about 75 percent local [labels] and then 25 percent from other states such as Oregon, Alaska and Colorado,” explains Andrea Marshall, who is opening the taproom with husband Jake Marshall. He adds, “We want to keep everything local, showcase what Lincoln has to oer and help it grow.”
Infusion will partner with nearby Siino’s Pizza, Pasta, & Grill, allowing customers to order small plates and appetizers to go with their ever-evolving list of craft beers and ciders.
Featuring local labels such as Common Cider out of Auburn, Sierra Cider and Fox Cider, “We want to have at least two ciders here because cider is growing just as rapidly [as craft beers],” says Andrea Marshall.

CITIZEN VINE WINE BAR AND RESTAURANT
ORCHID THAI RESTAURANT
e newly-opened Citizen Vine wine bar and restaurant features 30 dierent kinds of wine, from local labels such as Lincoln’s own Wise Villa or Rancho Roble and international ones from Italy or Argentina, in the hopes that you will nd a new favorite every time you visit.
“We wanted to have a little something for everyone and I think we did a pretty good job. We have a good representation from Napa, Sonoma, and on top of that, we’ve got some great Pinots out of Oregon and then a few internationals,” says owner Paul Jansen. “It’s just to get people a little bit out of their comfort zones and trying something they may not have tried before.”
e food menu features small, tapas-style plates that sprung forth from Jansen’s home kitchen. One of his most unique creations, what he calls “Adult Handy Snacks,” is a take on the classic childhood cheese and cracker snack, this version has smoked cheddar pimento cheese with local micro brew from local GoatHouse Brewing Company incorporated in for good measure. And, of course, it comes with the red stick.
Citizen Vine’s wine club oers members access to exclusive events, priority seating, unique wines and a voice in the restaurant’s evolving menu and wine list. Quarterly “Citizen’s Voice” tastings allows members to give feedback that keep their favorites on the menu or replace options that just don’t t the bill.
Not to leave out the morning crowd, Citizen Vine has expanded to also include coee during the week, where customers can text their order and have their joe delivered curbside. “We’re opening a full coee bar service from 6 in the morning to 10 in the morning,” Jansen says. “We’ll have mochas, lattes, cappuccinos and we’re going to carry pastries from Tony Rivers [of Four Rivers Baking Company]. He makes some delicious stu.”
Orchid ai restaurant has been serving up award-winning cuisine in Lincoln for the past 10 years. e menu showcases authentic ai avors and dishes such as the perennially popular Pad ai features pan-fried rice noodles with meat and vegetables, egg, tofu, green onions and bean sprouts topped with crushed peanuts.
Another noodle dish, Pad Khee Mao, more commonly known as Drunken Noodles, tops wide pan-fried rice noodles with vegetables, basil, black soy sauce, and chili sauce.
On a lighter note, Tom Kha, a traditional ai coconut soup, highlights a sublime combination of hot and sour soup, coconut milk, Kaªr lime leaves, galangal and lemongrass.
To drink, ai iced tea is a refreshingly sweet option to accompany your meal.
e authentic cuisine is reected in the restaurant’s spacious and sunny dining room as well, with golden features that were imported from ailand by owner Wa Tchang. e restaurant also features a full bar as well, with daily happy hour specials on beers and appetizers Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Orchid ai has been a popular establishment for several years now, garnering praise and recognition from KCRA’s A-List, being named best ai in the Sacramento Area in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and a nalist in the same category in 2010, 2011 and 2014. It was awarded Best of the Best awards in 2013 and 2014 by e Lincoln News Messenger.
e restaurant is open for lunch and dinner service, with dine-in, take-out and delivery services. Gluten-free and vegan options are available for some entrées upon request.

RANCHO ROBLE WINERY
BUONARROTI’S RISTORANTE
WISE VILLA WINERYLincoln’s Rancho Roble Vineyards oers an alternative to the abundant Zinfandel and Chardonnay options readily
found in tasting rooms all over the region. e winery specializes in Barbera wines, robust reds that originate from the Northwestern region of Italy and that pair well with a variety of foods.
“e Barbera grape, its complexity has an aggressive structure. It is a more acidic than other grapes. e acidity in the wine makes it a great food wine,” explains winery co-owner Domingos Dias. “It compliments a lot of tomato-based dishes really well, because of the acidity you nd in tomato. When you think of Barbera, you should be thinking of Italian foods, especially pizzas and pastas with marinara sauces. It also goes great with barbecue and even Mexican cuisine. ere’s even a hint of chocolate so it goes great with dark chocolate if you’re looking to pair Barbera with dessert.
Originally established in 2003, Rancho Roble Vineyards recently changed ownership early this year. With nearly 20 acres, the vineyard features Barbera grapes, as well as Syrah, Cabernet and Chardonnay varietals. New owners Dias, and John and Gigi Sweeney have plans for growth, including expanding their on-site winemaking facilities, tasting room and possibly even adding more varietals in years to come.
“It’s becoming a more well-rounded winery and I think, as time goes on, we’ll be adding more,” says Dias
“It’s denitely a family-run operation, something that I’m looking forward to growing and passing down to the next generation,” Dias says. “We want to thrive and create a beautiful setting and atmosphere for the people of Lincoln and Placer County to come out and enjoy our wine.”
For the past 10 years, Wise Villa Winery has made an award-winning name for itself, garnering numerous awards from some of the largest wine competitions.
“We specialize in making the best wine known to man. at’s the goal, that every single wine that we make be at absolute minimum a gold medal winner and we’ve pretty much done that. Our [2011] Cabernet was given the No. 1 Cabernet Sauvignon in the United States in the San Francisco Chronicle,” Lee says. “We had seven Best of Class this last year. Any winery that gets one in any year is ecstatic because there are [thousands of ] entries so Best of Class is a big deal.”
According to Lee, the secret to his success is his particular attention to the winemaking process and making the most of the 12 estate-grown grape varietals. “Our vineyards are 100 percent organic,” he explains. “We do cold fermentation, so instead of a four- or ve-day process, typical for a hot fermentation, ours takes a month to two or three months. But the fruit component of the wine is o the charts, compared to a quick, hot fermentation.”
Wise Villa’s Tuscan-style bistro and tasting room oers options from light gourmet salads to grilled llet, entrees and appetizers pair nicely with the award-winning vintages available for tasting. e bistro also hosts regular events, including Friday night dinners, themed holiday festivities, and pairing and blending parties.
For the past 11 years, Buonarroti’s Ristorante has been a beacon of ne dining in Lincoln.
e award-winning restaurant features authentic and made-to-order Italian dishes from chef and owner Daniel Alcantaro’s family recipes.
“My red sauce that we serve here has been in my family since I don’t know. My mom taught it to me and her mom to her. Some of the dishes are my mom’s recipes, some of them are my sister’s and some of them are all mine,” Alcantaro says. “We’re not your normal Italian restaurant; we sell dierent things than your chain Italian restaurant. We’re more, I would say, authentic Italian food.”
Popular menu items include the Rigatoni Capriosa, which features

OLD TOWN PIZZA
Old Town Pizza, located on historic Lincoln Boulevard, is a family-owned-and-operated restaurant that’s well known for its wildly popular pies.
From vegetarian specialty pies and gluten-free pizzas to the classic meat lover’s conductor specialty pie, this pizzeria has something to satisfy even the most particular pizza lovers.
“It’s all about pizza. We’re very focused, very simple. We make our own dough. We inherited the recipe from the [original] owners who created it in Auburn. And it’s amazing. We make it every single day,” says owner Reese Browning. “We purchase our fresh produce every day. It’s delivered every single day from the huge commercial farmers’ market out of Sacramento.”
Old Town oers several types of specialty pizzas, including its popular meat and vegetable combination “Caboose” pie, as well
as load-your-own options.
e menu also features salads, chicken wings, sliders, and desserts. Also featured is a rotating selection of local craft, domestic and imported beers to “wet your whistle.”
While Old Town’s dining room is located upstairs in the Lincoln Brands Feed building, a downstairs location is where take-out customers can grab their hot pizzas and cool ice cream at the same time.
“We have a lot of families that come in and we’ve been here so long that we’ve seen them celebrate their kindergarten graduation to now getting ready to celebrate their high school graduation,” says manager Kelly Bewley. “Watching the kids grow is probably one of the most rewarding parts of being in a small town and being a small business where you can have the face-to-face interactions with customers and get to know them.”
