‘The marketing of Meat Loaf’ was a mixeddocumentary broadcasted on BBC 2, at9pm; and the narrative structure for this
particular documentary was closed, singlestrand and non-linear.
Themes
Through out this documentary, two mainthemes were identified; one being the
power of the media and the way itinfluences an audience, but also theuncovering of the media business.

Camera WorkThe camera work on the actual footage for
this documentary varies throughout.
One shot that was used, was a medium long shot of Meat Loaf, showing him to be relaxed
and comfortable with this part of the documentary.
Also, a steadicam shot was also used at the press conference, which also identifies the fact that the documentary is also trying to make the
audience involved; e.g. point of view shot. However, many other types of camera work that was used through out the documentary as well; e.g. panning shot, low angle shot, extreme close
up, etc.
As for the interviews that were included in this documentary, they were done so that the
interviewee was to either the left or right hand of the screen, in order to make the background
visible.
Mise-en-scene
The main mise-en-scene that was used through the documentary was
chromakey (blue or green background). This enabled those people to put various
items/imagery in the background of a various interviews.

Sound
The sounds that were also played in the background of Meat Loaf’s music videos as well as some of his songs. A male voice over was also used in this documentary as well (standard english and sarcasm was used).

Editing
During this documentary, there were three different types of editing that took place throughout. These ranged from cuts and dissolve, to slow motion and montage
editing.
Archive material
As for archive material, they ranged from Meat Loaf’s songs and videos, to
newspaper headlines and magazines.
The archive material also included market research, CD covers and footage from various
grammy award shows and brit awards.
Graphics
The graphics that where used was the text that was contained either to the left or right
bottom hand corner of the screen. By using this, it anchors the persons name and
relevance to that part of the documentary. As well as that though, the font that was also
used was white and simple.
