Letter No. 4 Week No. 1: Chapter 1, Section 4: Science and Engineering, Pages 22-25
Did you notice we skipped this section yesterday? We jumped right into
measurement so you could be familiar with measurement tools before you do
your experiment in class.
that makes our lives EASIER.

This is what we usually think of technology:

Take a look at technology of the future:
How exciting!!! HOMEWORK FOR THE DAY:
Today you will use technology to make a presentation. You can do a youtube video, a Power Point Presentation, or you can go old school and do a poster. Old school is simply old technology - a paper, a pencil, and some markers!
how to do this, but just in
You probably already know
In your presentation you must include, the purpose of your experiment, your hypothesis, how you did the experiment, your analysis, and your results.
Remember: You are working FAST, SMART, SHARP, and you are PAYING ATTENTION. Do good work. Work together. Get involved, and get it done!
Now, let’s think about engineers and consider how THEY think.
Engineers follow something much like the scientific method. They use
the Engineering Design Process.
It goes! Around and around
Take a look:
The Engineering Design Process is an important method.
Remember, processes help us organize. We are working at
becoming fast, smart, sharp, while paying attention AND we’re
becoming more organized. Next week, let’s put the Engineering Design Process into practice. As you are
working on your assignment this week, think about parts that frustrate or annoy
you. If you were an engineer, how could
you improve the process, the tools, or the
software?
Take notes while you are working. While
talking about notes, you should learn to
take really great notes. Aren’t those notes FUN to read?
Your next assignment will be to share your idea, your notes, and
your suggestions on how to improve your experiment.
We’ll talk more about this later.
“Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement.
Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable.”
William Pollard
It is inevitable.
