Introduction
ü INSPIRE directive in France :
Ø Transposition of INSPIRE directive into the French law in October 2010
Ø « Loi NOTRe » in August 2015: local authorities (Regional level) have to handle geographicalinformation (GI), especially the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI)
ü The economic and political objectives of the transposition of INSPIRE directive into French law :
Ø Allow the implementation of better services for the citizens and the companies
Ø Promote economic growth and job creations through not only the development of geographicalinformation but many activities which need geographical data to create new services

Introduction
ü Brief litterature review on economic impact of spatial data information :
Ø Additional growth of nearly 1% in the absence of barriers to access to data (ACIL Tasman, 2009)
Ø In Switzerland, 23% of the firms reported that one third of their revenues comes from spatial datainformation (Frick R., StrahmM., Notter B. , 2016)

Impact of INSPIRE in the private sector
6
ü Positive impact on :Ø Services dedicated to GI jobs : companies delivering SIG, consulting firms, …
ü Negative impact on :Ø Firms providing aerial photography, …
ü No impact on :Ø Firms using GI to create new services, …
Ø Several reasons :§ The vectors for the transmission of INSPIRE are the Spatial Data Infrastructure and there is a lack of
knowledge of the existence of those.§ Complexity and accessibility restrictions of the regional SDI

Conclusion
7
ü INSPIRE directive for the private sector :Ø Goes through SDI => lack of knowledge and accessibility
ü Our results needs to be qualified :Ø We did not seen all the existing sectorsØ The area of open data have not been explored
ü Even if we provide mixed results, we highlight that there is a huge economic potentialespecially in value creation
