Utilization of Sub-Centre in Rural Areas of Lucknow District

Objective
To assess the pattern of utilization of services being provided to the beneficiaries through Sub-Centres of Lucknow district.
Methodology
Study design: Cross-sectional. Study population: Sub-Centres and their beneficiaries in
Lucknow District. Sample size: 352 (applying formula 4pq/d2). Sampling technique: Multistage random sampling used
for selection of Sub-Centres. Selection of the beneficiaries: Following systematic
random sampling. Inclusion criteria: The beneficiaries were selected if
they have delivered a baby since January 2009. Statistical analysis: Chi-square and Fisher’s exact test.

Conclusion
Beneficiaries from Sub-Centre villages were found to attend the Sub-Centre more frequently than those from other villages.
Most of the beneficiaries availed ante-natal care and immunization.
No bio-social factor was found to influence the utilization of Sub-Centre.
