Founded in 1972 to perform the following mission:
“ . . . to promote regional development of the two-county area, to explore broad opportunities for growth, particularly in the multi-billion dollar field of energy technology . . . informed political representation at the state and federal levels and the need for unified action toward common political goals.“

Lab-In-A-Box Pilot Program
2011-2012
The Rural Communities STEM Initiative (RCSI) is an Oak Ridge
business/education partnership working with nine rural school districts to
improve science, technology, engineering, and math skills of the region’s K-12
students based on the new state-wide math and science curriculum.
Anderson, Campbell, Loudon, Morgan,
Roane and Scott Counties
Clinton City, Lenoir City and Oneida
Special School Districts
• Activities developed to support new state-wide middle school math and science curriculum• 9 Lab-In-A-Box Sets = $67,500; Teacher Training Stipend = $4,725; Admin.
