After a beautiful Mass prepared by our Year Six students and led by Fr Quynh, our schoolgrandparents visited their grandchildren’s classes before being treated to a magnificentmorning tea. In his Homily Fr Quynh reminded us of just how significant his grandparentswere in his life and that we all have much to learn from our own grandparents, just as hedid from his. I hope all grandparents who were able to attend enjoyed the morning andwere reminded of just how special they are. Thank you to all who assisted with thepreparations for the morning, especially Joanita Stapleton who coordinated the wonderfulmorning tea.

PYJAMA DAYNext Wednesday we celebrate our annual pyjama day in support of the homeless in ourarea. All staff and students (and parents if they wish) are invited to come to school in theirPJs rather than their normal school clothes. 4 YEAR OLD KINDERGARTEN MEETINGThis could be a very interesting meeting for the parents of the children who will becommencing Kindergarten in 2019 next Wednesday as the Kindy staff and I will still be inour pyjamas from PJ Day. I hope they can ignore the stripes to hear the importantinformation that we have to share. The meeting will commence at 6.30pm and last forapproximately an hour. It is preferable that children do not attend this meeting.
CLASS NEWS - YR 3Term 3 has started with a bang! In Week 4, we are performing at St Benedict’s Church aspart of the Performing Arts festival. We have been practising with Mr Loiacono toshowcase our singing talents. We will be singing two hymns ‘This is our Faith’ and ‘We aregathered here in the presence of the Lord’.
In Literacy, we have been learning how to write a procedure text using appropriatelanguage including; nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives and time sequence words. Thefun part of this included making choc-chip cookies.
In mathematics, our focus has been fractions and the names of the different parts of afraction. We are able to talk about the numerator and denominator and identify halves,quarters, sixths and eighths.
In Term 2 we learnt about Australia and this term we will be exploring the climate zonesaround the world including Australia and its neighbours. We have a new app on our iPads,‘Bound Round’ that is going to help us explore the world at the touch of a button.We hope to see you at our assemblies this term, tomorrow and Friday of Week 5.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS PERFORMING ARTSFESTIVALThe solo piano performances have been held at Zenith Music Auditorium, Claremont thisweek as part of the Arts festival. All the children from Notre Dame performed to the verybest of their abilities, representing our school so well. The event was extremely wellorganised and presented. Why do we as counsellorstend to find couples counselling the more challenging? Participants in this training will beintroduced to the key principles of Systems Theory and to a number of the majorapproaches to working with couples, including Emotionally Focussed Therapy for Couplesand John and Julie Gottman's work.
