IFAPA is the Andalusian Institute of Agrarian and Fishing Research and Training.
It is assigned to the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Junta de Andalucía (Regional Government).
The Institute aims to contribute to the modernization of agriculture, fisheries and Agrofood sectors.
What is the IFAPA?
Aims
IFAPA CENTRES
18 Centres
> 1,000 ha
Annual budget:
65 million €
Staff: 971
Resources
More than 100 research projects are being conducted at present. These projects are financed by regional, national or international tenders, capturing 3.4 million €. (120 ISI scientific articles/year)
We also design research programmes with the participation of all related agents and stakeholders.
Main activities
1. Research
The IFAPA organises, manages and offers a vast Training Programme, which is oriented to researchers, technicians and professionals in the fields of farming, foodstuff, and fishing.
Around 20,000 students take part in training activities annually (800-1,000 institutional and specialized courses a year).
Main Activities
2. Training
Advisory Service: This consists of a technology-transfer service for innovation in the primary sector. This is a tool based on the use of ICT that makes IFAPA agricultural and fishery knowledge available to the user.
Remote training: IFAPA courses taught over the internet (pesticides, irrigation, fishing…).
Accords with the sector companies. 70 technology-transfer projects funded through contracts with companies and institutions, with an investment of 1.4 million €.
Conferences and workshops.
Technical cooperation, including inter-regional and trans-national cooperation activities.
Main Activities
3. Innovation, Technology Transfer and Advising
These are technological packages that involve training, experimentation, technology demonstration, communication, and advice for solving specific problems of the productive sectors.
They produce contents and services for our Knowledge Management Platform, as well as training materials over the Internet.
10 transfer projects (TransForma Projects)
with an investment of € 1.2 Mio [ERDF and
ESF].
How does IFAPA contribute to innovation?
