Our History...PTP is proud to offer tennis instruction to everyone between 3 and 95 years of age. Founded in 1954 by Eve Kraft and John Conroy (both charter members of the Mercer County Tennis Hall of Fame), over 120,000 local residents have participated in PTP programs. Winner of many regional and national awards, PTP has served as a model program for communities across the country and was voted one of the top fifty tennis organizations by Tennis Magazine. PTP has been named Organization of Year by the USTA/NJ district and Middle States section. In 1999 we were 1 of just 8 organizations nationwide to be recognized for our outstanding achievement in USA tennis programming. In 2000 and 2010 we were named Organization of the Year by the USTA Middle States Section and the New Jersey District. In 2002 we expanded our outdoor program to include Veteran’s Park in Hamilton which gives us access to 30 additional tennis courts. In December 2008 PTP purchased Princeton Indoor Tennis Center, and in January 2009 PTP moved the offices into the facility. August 28, 2009 there was a dedication ceremony to officially change the name of the tennis facility to the Eve Kraft Community Tennis Center, home of the Princeton Tennis Program. On August 26, 2011 the Eve Kraft Community Tennis Center got flooded from Hurricane. PTP renovated the main floor of the lobby and replaced the insulation and pads on the courts. The courts were also re-surfaced and the 10 and under blended lines were added. In the spring of 2013, Princeton Recreation Dept. requested PTP to take over the tennis operation at Community Park, expenses, maintenance, and operation. Online registration via CommunityPass:

Our Mission...The Princeton Tennis Program is, by tradition and choice, a year-round, nonprofit tennis organi-zation for children and adults of Princeton and surrounding New Jersey communities.
As a tennis association, we pursue a standard of excellence in teaching that encourages the development of health, character, good sportsmanship and responsible citizenship.
The Program seeks broad-based community participation by subsidizing lesson fees and establishing scholarship programs for applicants unable to meet costs. Whenever possible, the Program will provide assistance and support to other groups and communities.
***Play at KCTC***
Available courts at KCTC can be "booked" via the on-line court reservation program, WWW.PTPCOURTS.COM. Reservations can be made up to 2-weeks in advance on a first-come, first-served basis and can be made on-line with a credit card. Schedules change and sometimes checking often can get you the court that you want.

This may mean that there won't always be courts available as in the past. Becoming a member is the best and most convenient way of getting a court. PTP will always be sensitive to the needs of the CP members and will try to keep the members aware of times when no courts will be available. One example of this is during the spring (April 24-June 21), Monday-Thursday from 7:30pm-9pm, there won't be lit courts available for community play. All 6 courts will be pro-grammed during that time-slot.

The Bayard Jordan Memorial Scholarship
Application
Bayard Jordan (also known as “the man with the floppy hat”) taught countless numbers of people how to play tennis. His spirit energized others. At times, he had to be coaxed into accepting payment for his services. His sportsmanship was unwavering. He has been described as caring, patient, generous, kind, insightful, humble, and inspirational.
Bayard was an excellent tennis instructor and player whose philosophy was “play fair, do your best, and enjoy the game.” He was a fixture at the Community Park Tennis Courts during summers and at the Princeton Indoor Tennis Center through the indoor tennis seasons. Bayard worked closely with Eve Kraft and others to pioneer the original Princeton Tennis Program; he recognized PTP’s value to the community.
Bayard Jordan passed away in January 2006 at his home in Alaska, far from the Princeton tennis community which was home to him for most of his 87 years. He left an indelible mark in Princeton that we wish to perpetuate. His friends and supporters decided to honor Bayard’s memory by establishing the “Bayard Jordan Memorial Scholarship Fund.”
Each year PTP awards a scholarship to at least one recipient (minimum age 12 years) who represents the spirit of Bayard Jordan. We look for juniors who love tennis, work hard, show good sportsmanship and are good-will ambassadors for the game. Financial need may be considered but is not a prerequisite for consideration. Each scholarship awarded will enable the winner to attend one week of PTP Training Camp at no cost. This year’s winner(s) will be announced at the Princeton Tennis Classic on June 5, 2013.Deadline for submission: May 15, 2013
