Examination Reforms• Single paper for languages.• Summative exam for 80 marks and
Formative Assessment for 20 marks.• Duration: 3 hrs for writing answers and
15 minutes extra time for reading QP• Single Answer Booklet• Pass mark in internals (FA) is – 7 and in
summative exam is – 28Note: Student should pass in both separately.
• Questions should be open ending, descriptive, thought provoking and analytical in nature.• Questions once appeared in the
public exam should not be repeated in the later public exams in the same form.
Nature of Questioning
• Question given at the end of each unit must not be given in the public exams as such. • Questions must reflect the
academic standards.

Reflections: • Learners’ own reflections (oral and
written) on reading material other than textbook. • Oral discourses produced individually

Project works - Allotment of Marks:• 6 marks for the written work
(preparation of tools 2; collection of data and analysis-2, report writing-2)
• 4 marks for oral responses during the process and presentation of the report.
• Consider the indicators (written and oral) and award marks accordingly.
Slip Test: • It contains one discourse, one
reading comprehension and one exercise on Grammar & Vocabulary.
• This should be conducted without prior notice.
• It should be done in a single period and based on syllabus covered during the formative period.
• Teacher’s unit cum period plan that reflects children’s performance.• Student portfolio.• Notebooks of children.• Textual exercises carried out by
children.• Products evolved in groups through
collaboration.• Scripts of Slip Test.

Note 1: R-Reflections; W-Written works; P-Project work; S-Slip test, 2: To condense each item into 5 marks, divide the total marks under each area by 8 for 10 marks and by 16 for 20 marks.
There will be 3 Summative Tests in an academic year. The third summative exam is the public examination to be conducted by the SSC board. Each test is for 100 marks. Out of these, 20 marks are allotted to internal assessment and 80 marks for written test.

Internal Assessment (20 marks):• The average of marks obtained in
formative test(s) conducted earlier to the summative exam is to be considered for SA 1 and 2.
• For SA-3, the average of all four FAs should be considered for final results.
