Fairfax ConnectorExpress Lanes To Tysons Corner Bus Service
Background
• The 495 Express Lanes are a Public-Private Partnership between VDOT and Fluor-Transurban
• The project constructs two new lanes in each direction the along a 14-mile stretch of the Capital Beltway in Virginia
• A unique opportunity for transit service by providing a semi-dedicated lane on which the bus can achieve much higher speeds.

Staff Review/Draft Plan
• Based on the Transit Development Plan• Budget constraints• New generator – Saratoga Park & Ride Lot• “Phased” Implementation starting with Burke VRE to Tysons
Corner Express Route; followed by Springfield and Lorton routes in February/March 2013
Service Details
• Weekdays Only– 6:00AM – 9:00AM & 4:00PM – 7:00PM– 2 Midday Trips
• Fare is to be determined: $3.65 or $5.35
Tysons Circulation
• Rail will not be operational when Tysons Express bus service begins; routes will need to circulate through Tysons;
• There are multiple circulation routes to serve multiple destinations with minimum time on the bus.
