FF: Who is Gary Jones?
GJ : Entrepreneur, fashionista, father and a driven individual
FF: What is your style and how would you describe i t?
GJ : Modern-Contemporary and innovative, subtle with
some color. Always progressive and that pretty much sums
i t up.
FF: Do you have any influences, inspirations, or idols,
whether i t be music, fashion or art?
GJ : The kind of people who are ratpacks, individuals who
read GQ, Esquire, anything fashion and fabric related-al l of
these inspire me. No one in particular stands out that I
idol ize.
F: Can you describe Jones Select and describe how you came about
starting the brand??
GJ : Jones Select i s a contemporary look for the upscale man where he
can stand out or fi t in. I started off doing an apprenticeship 8 years ago
with a master tai lor in LA. I was an athlete most of my l i fe and I did my
first fashion show as a senior in high school and a lot of the females
gave me attention starting giving me attention after. People started
looking at me differently, I enjoyed the attention and how much power
the atti re received. So I did that for after homecoming courts I
connected the dots cause I basical ly had to pass out these forms,
however many you got turned into this tuxedo place, they gave you a
free tuxedo cause you'd earned enough, and I ended up winning 3. I
had a lot of powerful influences that were around me at the time that
were very fashion forward and so i t kind of caught my interest about
clothing, I went out with fami ly and I always dressed up on weekends.
So I did some investigation and research then connected with a tai lor. I
worked with him for some years, flew him out to Columbus started
bui lding my cl ient base on a quarterly basis. Working with another
master tai lor as wel l , i t ended up bui lding my cl ient base even more. I t
helped get a l i ttle bi t more experience to grasp the design aspect and
most of the tai lors weren’t real ly wi l l ing to take those risks. So that
alone provoked me to start the company which I did so about 2 years
ago. When I did, I started off with the same cl ientele doing weddings,
fi tting business men in shirts, people and things of that nature. As I
continued to grow my brand I got some notabi l i ty out in Arizona with
Phoenix Fashion Week and that was the fi rst time my work was in
another state which was out there from a design point.

F: Describe the Jones Select guy in one word?
GJ : Progressive
FF: What did you want to be growing up and would
you change that now if you could?
GJ : I am what I wanted to be growing up, I always
wanted to wear a sui t everyday and sel l something
important and take pride in the things I did. I think
being a clothier entai l s everything I love to do, I love
working with people, bui lding relationships- I ’m not
necessari ly trying to work with the whole world,
there’s just a select group of people that love to get up
everyday and make a statement and bui ld their brand,
which is what I love to do. I don’t necessari ly l ike to
sel l people sui ts I l ike to bui ld everybody’s brand so
whatever industry you’re in whether i t’s insurance
whether you’re an attorney, people buy you, they don’t
necessari ly buy your product, they buy you so I love to
just work with people and help to work on projects
whatever that may be. I t could be an event or an
occasion, a wedding, I think a combination of what I
learned in my l i fe al lows me to grow so I didn’t have
one set career that I wanted to be when I grew up.
FF: Who is the funniest person you know. Why?
GJ : I would have to go with Bi l l Cosby. He’s one of the
smartest people in the world. General ly speaking to me
to be on television i t takes truth to make people laugh.
Jokes are funny because they’re true and he had a way
to consistently put out a great si tcom and stay relevant
for years and years. He wasn’t only funny, but he got
his point across. What’s funny is he can tel l a joke and
make faces and have a good time, but he also
projected a great image for a minori ty community,
helping fami l ies so I think he’s defini tely a guy who’s
funny, but also helpful .
FF: What do you say we can expect from you in the
future from you and your brand?
GJ : The brand is progressing because when I fi rst came
out I wanted people’s attention a lot to let people know
I was di fferent so I went more fashion forward, more
innovative to show how I operate and the col lection I
wi l l be releasing this year is going to be closer to what
you may see in the modern pictures and an extension
from different magazines, but i t also has the Jones
Select flai r, where I have some of my signature doings
that wi l l be on the garments- more Jones colors. I ’l l
also have a few pieces that wi l l push the envelope
cause I want to see more of the Jones Select on the
more everyday average person so they can see
themselves in my clothing as wel l as the eccentric
fashionista.
Ff: I s there anything that you would l ike to tel l our
audience?
GJ : I ’m also going to be featuring some female blazers
this year. I did 1 last year and I had a ton of females
asking for i t and tel l ing me to make more female
blazers define fine art, cut and qual i ty so look out for a
couple of those that wi l l be featured in my l ine,
probably more than 1 .

Have you ever walked into your closet and been instantlytransported to the magical fashion land of well.. You? Well youshould be, when you walk into your closet one should be able tosee oneself in there. See your personality, your style, and if astranger were to stroll in they should see “ you” too. Not exactlyfeeling your wardrobe wonderland? If your looking at your closetand there’s no magic... well let’s work on that. When a girl or guy looks at their wardrobe she or he should feelinspired, she should think “ who do I want to be today? “ How do Iwant to feel today? Her ensemble should be a reflection of whatshe’s feeling and who she is.OK for example I wash all my clothes hang them up and foldthem them so that when I walk in to my closet and see absolutelyeverything I own hanging there in all its glory amongst silks, chiffon’s, sequins, florals, patterns, polyesters, vintage, studded, chains, mesh and lace. My heart flutters and I get excited for allthe ensemble possibilities. I’m instantly lost in a fashion mecca, right inside my own bedroom, imagine that!I am constantly challenging myself to push my fashion boundariesand step outside of my comfort zone, to expand my style horizons.I understand this may be harder for some than others, it’s ok ifyour comfortable in your fashion bubble, but if you would like tofeel inspired by your wardrobe and inspire others with your fashionsense than you have to make room for changes.Think about it in terms of food. You wouldn’t eat the same thingeveryday would you? Well same thing goes for clothing, unlessyou really desire to be on a fashion diet. When you cook youinspect your fridge and see what you have to make a recipe and atasty meal. Same goes for your wardrobe, you pick out youringredients and whip up a delicious treat for yourself. Somethingthat satisfies your style appetite. Gradually adding new ingredientsto your cooking/ closet will enhance your palette and you will
never want to go back to that ho hum recipe again, so to speak. Here’s a few tips to help you get there. Throw out all those clothesthat A. Don’t fit B. Don’t flatter your body C. Don’t make you feelbeautiful, amazing, sexy, stylish, and comfortable in your own skin.So now that those duds are gone take a look at your closet againand you’ll see the things that are left, though fewer, are thingsthat are a part of your core wardrobe. Try clustering pieces thatare specific styles like equestrian, mod, goth, romantic, and whathave you, you know kind of like they do in your favorite stores. This will help you gauge your style a little more and see what youneed to add to or have too much of.. This will also help inspireentire outfits for a whole look, feel free to add necklaces andbracelets,to your blouses and hangers , hats or whateveraccessories your inclined to add. This way next time you enteryour closet your looking at “looks” like s stylist would pull , but onlyits for yourself.Since my fashion taste and style changes over the years I havegrown out of color coordinating my hanging clothes and shoes. Ifind that randomly hanging garments verses placing just “dresses”or “blouses” next to each other mixes up my clothing pallet andmakes for some interesting pairings, I might otherwise never havethought of. I am definitely a fan of having ready to wear outfits forspecific occasions in advance so I’m not always wondering what towear and wasting that extra half hour trying things on over andover again. Maybe people don’t have that much time on theirhands but it’s important to have a plan, at least that’s what dadwould say. Just a few questions to ask yourself, are your clothesin plain view so you know what you have and able to utilize thosepieces in your day to day wardrobe.Oh yea and one more thing if nobody saw you wear it and itmakes you feel good, wear it again tomorrow! Hey that outfit tookeffort and you deserve to milk it for whats it’s worth.

"I met my ex-husband when I was 20 years old. Wewere very much in love and ready to conquer the worldtogether. It was not long into the relationship that Ibegan separating myself from my family and friends. This should have been my first clue that this was not ahealthy relationship. We moved out of state togetherand that is when the mental manipulation began. I knewI would be lost if I ever left him. Finally, life brought usback to our home state and things seemed better at first.I discovered shortly after coming back that he wascheating on me, and when I confronted him it got ugly.He strangled me until I blacked out and I did not leave. There were 3 more years of abuse that I endured afterthat day. I got married and had a son in that time. Ithank the lord and the universe everyday for my angelbaby! My eye opening moment was because of hissweet and pure self. One day while I was doing online registration to enroll inschool, my son's father, instructed it was lunch time. After not moving fast enough to complete his demands Ihad a fresh pot of Ramen noodles poured on to my headdirectly from the stove. The fact that my son was sittingwithin 3 feet of me and saw every second of theseevents was the last straw. I called a friend andmanaged to pick up my son and leave to "go to thestore." I filed for a restraining order and my legalseparation the next morning at the Courthouse.I had been calling Sojourner's Center for several weeksprior to this event. They had let me know the stepsnecessary to vacate my dangerous environment. I didnot think the guidelines were necessary and felt theywere incredibly strict. Looking back, I wish I would havemade the moves after the very first call. Not doing so,turned my son into one of the 3.3 to 10 million childrenthat witness domestic violence annually. I tookresponsibility for the life my son was exposed to before itgot even worse. I can only support him and teach himrespect to avoid a pattern."FrancescaPlease join us Saturday, March 3rd 2012 from 6 p.m. -9 p.m. at Next Coffee Company for A FASHIONSTATEMENT to END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Introducing
Photogragher: Jesse PaulkSet Assistant: MaryanShaverModel: Sydney RounsavilleHair: Marlis JefferesonMake Up: Amber DavidDesigner: Lakesha "KiKi"Morgain
RA Studios was the hot spot to be on Saturday,
Feb 4th. This mecca of beauti ful models,
creative make up arti sts, and the impeccable
designs of Natal ia Acosta, Katouz and 42 Saint
surged with unsurpassed style whi le Roman
Acevedo looked on. This industry sometimes
gets the reputation for disorganization and
chaos within photo shoots; however, this one
was defini tely di fferent.
We were astonished to see
how wel l everything had
come together - in i ts own
level of original i ty and
direction. Organized by
Kavir ModelManagement,
al l of the models stood out
in their own unique way -
fresh faces and a pol i shed
look that real ly contributed
to this high fashion shoot.
There must be something more
to this, so we sat down
with the three
executives of this new
company to find
out more.
Photogragher: Jesse PaulkSet Assistant: MaryanShaverModel: Brianna RamboHair: Heather OdetteMake Up: Rachel KoszegiDesigner: Lakesha "KiKi"Morgain
FF: How did Kavir ModelManagement start?
KMM: The partners of international clothing l ine
Katouz, Kambiz Katouzian and Nicole Dimitri , had
establ i shed so many connections within the fashion
industry that they decided to branch out and expand
their vision to an agency. Their exotic designer
clothing, which consists of fine art in fashion,
eventual ly evolved to Kavir, where they could ful ly
develop that same concept to a unique face. Bringing
on the third executive to the team, Katt Rambo, Kavir
i s backed by her 20 years of experience in model ing
and model management.
FF: The models al l look so great! Wheredid you find them
KMM: Thank you, we wanted to bring some fresh
faces into our agency - we certainly have some rising
stars among them. We do have some wel l -known
faces with us, l ike Salahudin Harun Vance, Ashkan
Esmai l i , and Briana Robertson. Their credi ts include
Lebron James body double, Nike national
adverti sements and commercials, Macy’s and many
more reputable areas of work.
1 2
FF: What are your plans in terms ofbusiness growth?
KMM: Kavir has big plans to market our models and
promote them to advance to renowned agencies in
LA, New York and abroad. We bel ieve this i s
something that can set us apart from other agencies in
the Val ley. We are not here to sign 1 00 models and
never work them - we want to keep our board smal l ,
so that we can focus on them and real ly bui ld a
distinguished image. Since we are very selective, we
are aware we may grow slower, but truly bel ieve in
