14
Accepting Christ
Faith is trusting in Jesus. Rom.10:11 We must surrender to Jesus as Lord.
“That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”. Rom. 10:9-11
We must place our faith in Jesus. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”. Eph. 2:8
15
Membership by baptism
An example prayer to express willingness to make this public confession of faith:
“Father, I want to obey You and let others know I have a new life in Jesus Christ. Bless me as
I follow Jesus in baptism.”
We need to obey Jesus’ command. Matt. 28:19
We declare our new life in Christ through baptism.
Acts 2:41, 8:35-38, 16:25-34
16
Membership by Statement of Faith
God encourages every Christian to participate in church membership. Heb. 10:25
“So in Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others”. Rom.12:15
Sample prayer to pray with new member:“dear Lord, thank you for First Baptist
Church. Please help _____ be a faithful church member and support his/her church family.”
17
Transfer of Letter
Church membership is provided through the invitation of the local church.
We need strength for daily living which comes through fellowship with other Christians. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Heb. 3:13
18
Rededicating Life to Christ
We must repent of our sin. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins be wiped out”. Acts 3:19
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Rom.3:23
We deserve death and hell. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Rom. 6:23
19
Other decision
Sunday School membership “We need to equip others for service” 2 Tim 2:2
“God promises to be with you and to strengthen you” Ex. 4:12, Josh 1:9
Commit to do God’s will “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight”. Prov. 3:5-6
