Oct. 23, three year old Landon was injured in a lawn tractor accident. His left leg had to be amputated just above the knee. Quite the little trooper, Landon is quickly adjusting. Parents Kevin & Petra Uthke are thankful to have their son home with them, but reluctant to ask for assistance. Landon is now a healthy growing boy, but will need a number of prosthetic limbs designed and fitted in the years to come. Family and friends are hosting a fundraiser to establish an account that will assist with Landon’s continued medical care.

HERE’S SUDOKU HOW IT WORKS:Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Being a Caregiver is filled with stress and anxiety. In order to remain healthy so we can contin-ue to be Caregivers, we must be able to see our own limitations and learn to care for ourselves as well as others.
To ward off or cope with burn-out, the following strategies are recommended:
• Participate in a support net-work
• Consult with professionals to explore burnout issues
• Attend a support group to receive feedback and coping strategies
• Vary the focus of caregiving
responsibilities if possible (ro-tate responsibilities with family members)
• Exercise daily and maintain a healthy diet
• Establish “quiet time” for meditation
• Get a weekly massage
• Stay involved in hobbies
By understanding the potential for burnout, Caregivers can be forewarned and guard against this debilitating condition. As much as it is said, the best way to be an effective Caregiver is to take care of yourself. Investiga-tethe resources that are available in your community.
