Dear Quilting Friends
In my last newsletter I said to come to the cottage to see the roses before the heat of the summer. Well we have had the hottest January with the most days over 40° for 100 years. I wonder what they blamed for the heat 100 years ago! Global warming was not heard of back then. With the heat came thunderstorms & lightning which started the Eden Valley fires. Now the whole of Australia knows where Eden Valley is!. I live on the Western side of Eden Valley and lucky for me, with the wind change, the fires went north easterly, but still too close for comfort.
Last week the Tour Down Under came past the Cottage twice. It was nice to hear the sirens of the police bikes, clearing the roads for the international cyclists, instead of the sirens of fire trucks, rushing to the fire fronts, that went on for days.
This year, in the Cottage, I am introducing a permanent ‘End of Bolt’ sale of 20% off when you buy all the fabric remaining on the bolt.
We only have a few sales per year. With our 1 day April Fool’s Day SALE coming up on Tuesday April 1st. Jelly Rolls will be $40 for 1 day only. Then the first two weeks of May is our 24th Birthday Sale. WOW! 24 years, a lot has happened in my life in those years. Michael, my son was in high school and caught the bus to the front of the Cottage to come home with me and in July he will be 40.
New fabrics arrive in the Cottage every month and again I need to remind you that the life of a fabric is only 6 months, so it is better to purchase half a metre rather than 30cm.You can use what is left over after making your quilt , by enrolling in a new monthly Scrap Pattern programme. A new pattern is sent to you each month for 12 months, so you can use up your stash and then buy some lovely new fabrics, like the lovely Rose fabrics that have just arrived.
I love the TV series Downton Abbey and now there is a ‘Downton Abbey’ fabric range, lovely for that antique look.
I stocked the Jinny Beyer Palette fabrics for many years and now I have been told that not many shops stock them. These fabrics are such great blenders with all other fabric ranges, they are so versatile, I have decided to do a Jinny Beyer ‘10th Anniversary’ Moon Glow quilt, so if you missed out last time , enroll now. It is foundation pieced and Jinny’s method is great, it uses freezer paper and makes piecing the blocks very easy. When the quilt is finished it really does glow!
Most shops send their newsletters by email and as postage is going up to 70c I will be doing likewise. So if you still wish to receive this newsletter, please send your email address tome [email protected] Keep cool & see you soon! Heather & Staff

performance . Your needles will glide through this unique eco-friendly batting.
Finished quilt may be machine-washed and dried with little to no shrinkage. Dream

but you can rest assured that Dream Green is colourfast & compatible to all your finest quilts and pro-
jects.
Dream Green has been carded, cross-lapped and needle-punched for uniformity, strength, and resilien-

Pattern 2 with a sample of the blue fabrics used for the
piecing of the border.
Starting in 2014 I have a new idea for using up those fab-
rics you already have... a scrap fabric pattern of the month.
You can sign up for a twelve month pattern collection with
all of the projects using scrap fabrics. This will run the
same way a block of the month runs but without the fabric.
This will then clear out that cupboard for you to
start collecting new fabric.
The pattern of the month projects will include quilts, table
runners, cushions and Christmas projects. The cost will be
$18 per month (including postage).
This is the first project that is available now.
