Additionally, Joel is available for interviews and can provide expert commentary on stories about personal growth, work-‐life balance and more. Here are just a few story ideas Joel can help with:
• Work-‐life balance: Want to know the truth about work-‐life balance? It’s a myth. It might surprise you to hear this, but it’s true! Work-‐life balance is just one more expectation that people try – but fail – to live up to. So if work-‐life balance isn’t the answer, what is? Joel will explain.
• Taking control of your schedule: We have more tools than ever for organizing our time with technology, mobile phones and apps. But the truth is, most of us still feel like our schedules are managing us. There’s a simple way to fix this problem, and Joel will share the secret.
• Making better choices: Many people think that you need to know all the options before you can make a move forward. The truth is, more choices usually lead to more confusion. As Joel will explain, the way to tip the scales in your favor is to get clear on your outcome and to keep yourself lined-‐up with your values, principles and plan.
• Making a difference: Most people think making a difference is all about being selfless rather than selfish. But, it really isn’t selfish to focus on your needs and dreams, because being your best possible self benefits everyone around you. Joel can discuss how to leave a legacy that matters.
• Sorting through the clutter: More information does not lead to more clarity. We have access to more information now than ever before with the Internet, social media and 24-‐hour news cycles. The truth is, all of this chatter simply creates clutter and confusion. Joel will explain how to sort through the clutter to find clarity, confidence and direction.

About Joel’s “12 Months of Mercy” Campaign
From November 2013 until November 2014, Joel is embarking upon a campaign he calls “12 Months of Mercy.” During this time 12% of the proceeds from sales of his book, Finding Your Voice, will be donated to the Nashville-‐based international non-‐profit group Mercy Ministries.
Mercy Ministries, which was founded in 1983, is a free, voluntary, faith-‐based residential program that serves young women ages 13-‐28 from all socio-‐economic backgrounds. These women face life-‐controlling issues, such as eating disorders, self-‐harm, drug and alcohol addiction, depression and unplanned pregnancy. Mercy also serves young women who have been physically and sexually abused, including victims of sex trafficking.
Using proven methods, a holistic approach and professional counselors, in a structured residential environment, Mercy has helped more than 3,000 young women be restored to wholeness. Mercy’s goal is to help these young women find freedom from their issues and empower them to serve in their communities as productive citizens.
“Mercy Ministries is a wonderful organization that is all about helping women,” says Joel. “I am thrilled to be able to offer a portion of the proceeds from the sale of my new book to support this worthy cause. I am also very grateful that my publisher Sound Wisdom is matching our contribution!”

Finding Your Voice Foreword – by Dan Miller
When I was just 13 years old my life was dramatically impacted by a little recording called The Strangest Secret. The message presented was essentially the Biblical principle – “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” I learned the power of feeding my mind positive, faith-‐building thoughts as opposed to allowing the challenges of a legalistic religion and a poor farm life to determine my attitude and future. And I learned that by taking responsibility for my thinking I could determine the direction of my life. I discovered we can all choose to tell our life story as a victim or as one who has chosen to walk in victory and abundance.
In this very hopeful book Joel shares his own story of early heartache, tragedy and misfortune – and how those experiences could have left him trapped in anger, fear and depression. But his continued search for answers and solutions also led to his discovery that he was not trapped – he had a choice. He could move beyond those negative emotions to be more empathetic and joyous than ever before. Along the way he learned the fallacy of some common assumptions:
• If I were just able to meet enough people, someone is bound to come along and save me;
• If I can just get a college degree it will automatically lead to a fulfilling life; • Where I live and luck determine my success.
We all dream of and wish for lives of happiness, meaning and fulfillment. And yet, it seems that reality assures us that we will experience hardships along the way. God has apparently designed us to grow from the unexpected struggles that inevitably show up. But like the butterfly struggling to get out of the cocoon, our struggles are part of what makes us fully alive. And like the butterfly, those struggles are not intended to limit or cripple us, but to allow us to develop our resilience, fortitude, compassion and personal excellence. In the award winning movie, The King’s Speech, the Duke of York was thrust into the role of King George IV. He was challenged to “have faith in his voice” while dealing with a debilitating stammer. That faith was about much more than just pushing words out of his mouth. He had to believe he had a message worth sharing to find his voice. In that gut-‐wrenching but thrilling process the Duke found his voice, thus becoming confident and able to galvanize his countrymen for uncommon greatness.

Media Contact: Joel Boggess | [email protected] | (972) 523-‐7758 www.fyvbook.com
Joel describes the process by which we can all make the choices for finding our unique voice – even when circumstances seem to make us stammer. Finding Your Voice gently guides us through the process of opening up after being wounded; of trusting after trust has been violated; of stretching in areas that culture and tradition have warned us against; of acting in our passion even when others say that’s unrealistic and impractical. Joel helps us understand what Maya Angelo meant in saying, “When you know better, you do better.” This is a book to help us know and do better. Forgiveness, peace, hope and compassion are characteristics that can be learned. Those healthy, spiritual traits may not seem natural in light of real-‐life circumstances but they can be learned in spite of those circumstances.
I challenge you to open your heart and discover how the unexplained and often unwelcomed events in our lives can move us toward the greatness intended for each of us. As we move away from our own hurts and fears, we release the best in ourselves and encourage the same in those around us. You are doing something special for others and yourself – by reading Finding Your Voice! The investment of your time will come back multiplied with more confidence and enthusiasm – and you’ll discover a powerful voice that will inspire and encourage others along the way.

Quotable quotes:
When you spend all your time trying to fit in, you forget who you really are -‐ or worse, you feel wrong for being yourself.
Being true to the person you were created to be is the best gift you can give yourself, your family, and the world.
Listen to your voice. No one else can hear it. Tell your story. No one else can speak it. Chase your passion. No one else can catch it.
By eliminating the activities that rob your time and energy, all you have left is success.
The only thing worse than not knowing your passion is ignoring it.
It takes more energy to hide who you truly are than to be in harmony with your authentic self.
The doctor’s prognosis while in my childhood coma, “Don’t expect Joel to live a normal life.” They were right about that.
When you use your gifts and do what you love, you exude energy; happiness pours out and covers those around you.
Without a vision or a plan, you are destined to play out a dream that belongs to someone else.
What you believe about yourself will push you to either explore new opportunities, or to shut off from possibilities.
When you tell yourself the truth, fear disappears.
The world, your family, your friends and coworkers, the people at church, and those in your community, need you to find your voice so they can experience you at your finest.
Your struggles can become the catalyst for moving into a better place -‐ emotionally, spiritually, financially, and relationally.
