THANK YOU
Dear Church Family, I would like to thank those of you who prayed for me, sent cards, brought food, and flowers after my knee replacement surgery. Jerry and I have been blessed by your concern. We also want to give special thanks to those involved in the soup ministry. I still covet your prayers as I continue with physical therapy. Dianne Davis

UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS
YOUTH NEWS
I love the words of “God of Calvary!” Think about these words in the chorus, “By his wounds I am set free. By his blood I’ve been redeemed. The great divide he crossed for me. Oh, praise the God of Calvary!” 2000 feet, a little more than a 1/3rd of a mile. That’s how far Jesus walked to Calvary. But the chasm he crossed that day was far greater for it was a chasm we could never cross. We sing about loving the “old rugged cross” and it’s not the cross that we love but rather what it represents, the way Christ paid the debt of my sin and your sin. One of the reasons I love the writings of Paul is that he never ever got over the grace that Christ showed him. Paul had persecuted followers of Christ, even helping put them to death but his sin isn’t greater than ours. Our sin is what separated us from God. God’s grace is free because we could never earn it. We can never ever be good enough to earn salvation. Even now, we sin. When was the last time you spoke badly about someone? Thought badly about someone? Wanted something someone else had? Desired something that God has said “no” to? Not been content where God has you in your life? The list of sin goes on and on and yet the cross bridges the chasm of our sin to God. We enter into salvation through the cross and the path that we walk with Christ is paved by the grace and mercy Christ demonstrated on the cross. Another song I love, “may we never lose the wonder, the wonder of the cross!” May we truly never lose sight of the mercy and grace we have been given. May we never get over God’s grace. May it be the song our lives sings. I thank God for his love ,grace and mercy. For the salvation that paid the debt of my sin, that cleanses me daily and draws me closer to him. I encourage you to spend some time today thanking God for his mercy and grace and join us on Sunday as we praise and worship the “God of Calvary!” See you Sunday, Randy

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS:
Messy Games, August 14; 5:30-7pm
Hello church! I wanted to invite each of you to join me at Alma Jean’s this Tuesday morning for Mission Mississippi. If you aren’t familiar with Mission Mississippi, it is a statewide organization that encourages racial reconciliation and relationship-building in local communities. There are about 25 of us who’ve been meeting regularly over the last couple of years, and since that time, we’ve seen relationships form and grow…all in the name of Christ. We begin at 6:15 and end by 7:15 so that everyone can get to work on time. It’s a time of meeting other people who aren’t like you, and trying to see the world from their eyes. I can assure you that it will be a sweet and beneficial time. All are invited. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me some-time before then. Hebrews 10:19-25 this week. Wonderful text! So study up! Love you all, Bro. Chris
