This short set of slides supports a story around the idea that “People don’t know what the don’t know”,
one focus point in the seminar, “Bringing the Jackfruit Home” presented to Pre-Service Teachers at

I worked in Dubai at the Higher Colleges of Technology teaching Multimedia, Photography, Project Management etc.(1999- 2004).
Almost every weekend we would go out camping in the desert.
And every weekend I would get stuck
My friends were always happy to help me out
Someone would get in my truck and try this, try that…
and eventually drive the truck out of its bad spot.
BUTI really needed
to learn “To Fish”
rather than be handed a
‘Fish’.
I needed to become self-sufficient –
Luckily, there were only a few key things I needed to learn how to do!
Desert Dunes Survival Tip
1) Lower the air in your tires
2) Turn off your air conditioning
