MARK 9:2-8 (The Message)2-4 Six days later, three of them did see it.
Jesus took Peter, James, and John and ledthem up a high mountain. His appearance
changed from the inside out, right before
their eyes. His clothes shimmered, glistening white, whiter than any bleach
could make them. Elijah, along with Moses,
came into view, in deep conversation with
Jesus. 5-6 Peter interrupted, Rabbi, this is a
great moment! Lets build three
memorialsone for you, one for Moses,
one for Elijah.

He blurted this out without thinking, stunned
as they all were by what they were seeing.7
Just then a light-radiant cloud envelopedthem, and from deep in the cloud, a voice:
This is my Son, marked by my love. Listen
to him. 8 The next minute the disciples
were looking around, rubbing their eyes,
seeing nothing but Jesus, only Jesus.

FROM GLORY
TO MOVEMENTDo You KNOW that
the LORD JESUSDEMONSTRATED
MANY MIRACLES,
proving and
pointing to His Divinity?
Revealing to us that HE IS GOD?
YET the most convincing of all is the
TRANSFIGURATION!

Yes, Jesus is GOD![ The 2nd Person of the Trinity ]
TRANSFIGURED vs MASQUERADE
in order to go straight along a path, one must
have some knowledge of the end of the road
(as an archer will not the arrow unless he first
see the target) - bor rowed.

Since Christ had encouraged his disciples to
follow the path of his suffering, he then
revealed to them
the GLORYwhich would follow upon
this suffering.
It takes faith to accept and practice this lessonon discipleship, so six days later, the Lord
gave a dazzling proof that God indeed does
transform suffering into glory.

Jesus revealed His glory.
The message was clear: first the suffering,
then the glory.
Moses represented
the Law and Elijahthe Prophets, both of
which find their fulfillment
in Jesus Christ(Luke 24:25-27; Hebrews 1:1-2).

Moses had died and his body was buried, but
Elijah had been raptured to heaven
(2 Kings 2:11).
When Jesus returns,
He will raise the bodiesof the saints who died
and will rapture the
living saints (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Jesus will one day establish His glorious
kingdom and fulfill the many promises made
through the prophets.

Christs sufferings and death would not
prevent God from establishing His kingdom;
rather,
by SOLVINGthe sin problem in Gods
world, the cross would
help to make the kingdom
possible.

The word transfigured describes a change on
the outside that comes from the inside.
It is the opposite of
masquerade, which is
an outward change thatdoes not come from within.
Jesus allowed His glory to radiate through Hiswhole being, and the mountaintop became a
holy of holies!

As you meditate on this event, keep in mind
that He has shared this glory with us and
promised us a glorioushome forever
(John 17:22-24).
According to
Romans 12:1-2 and
2 Corinthians 3:18, believers today canexperience this same transfiguration glory.

"A man was asked by a pastor to come to
church for 4 Sundays, He was a skeptic but
the pastor thought if he, would come maybehe would be convinced to accept Christ. At the
end of the fourth Sunday, the man approached
the pastor and said, "I have given my life toJesus Christ."

The pastor was pleased and said,
"Tell me about it?"
The man looked at the pastor and said, ""Well,
Pastor it wasnt your preaching. The man
paused for a moment. He went an, "On thethird Sunday morning, I saw an elderly lady fall
down on the icy roar. I stopped to help her and
I saw the radiance on her face, even in themidst of such difficulty.

So I asked her what gave her life such a
radiant glow and she said simply, If you knew
my Lord Jesus Christ and felt his love in yourlife, you would have the same look of radiance
on your face.
"I became a Christian," the man said,
"because of the glow on that womans face
was like a light shining into the darknessof my soul."

How wonderful it is to stay on the mountain
and bask in His glory!
But discipleship means
denying self, taking up
a cross, and following Him;and you cannot do that
and selfishly stay on the
mount of glory.
There are needs to be met in the valley below.

The Father interrupted Peters speech and
focused their attention, not on the vision,
but on the WORD ofGod: Hear Him!
The memory of visionswill fade, but the
unchanging Word abides
forever.
Peter hinted that we need to behold the 3. No!
It should be Jesus onlyHis Word, His Will,
His Kingdom, and His Glory.
