Rolph Road Leaside Cup Champions!!
Monday February 6th – vs. John Fisher It was a tight fit in the small change room at North Toronto, we all made it to the ice on
time. However, no officials arrived. With the help of Brandon Parent who lent Mr. Kennedy a pair of skates, Principal became refer-
ee. Manny and Wyatt scored the first goals of the season. The game was very close as John Fisher scored two goals to tie the game
and later put in one more to go ahead 3-2. In the third period Rolph put the puck in the net, but the referee called it no goal as the
whistle had blown. Congrats to Manny and Wyatt the golden puck winners.
Tuesday February 7th – vs. Dunlace In our final game of the season we faced the Dunlace Dragons. The Dragons drew first blood
scoring in the first period. However, Rolph fought back with some excellent passing and had a flurry of scoring opportunities. Dis-
playing excellent skills, Rolph took the lead and never looked back scoring 7 goals. Cooper the golden puck winner netting himself a
hat-trick.
Friday February 10th Inaugural Leaside Cup Tournament The first game in the tournament we faced arch rival Bessbo-
rough. Bessborough was swarming our end and had many, many scoring opportunities; Keeper Kyle did an excellent job to keep
Rolph in the game. Rolph had several good chances hitting the crossbar and post on a couple scoring chances. Jason the golden
puck winner was the only Road Runner to score. In the end Bessborough won 5-1. The next game in the tournament was against
neighbourhood nemesis Bennington. As in many of our games, we get better each period. And not having a rest after the Bessbo-
rough game might have been in our favour. The Road Runners came out fast and furious creating many scoring opportuni-
ties. Rolph defeated Bennington 9-2. Congrats to the golden puck winners Caroline and Jordan.
Leaside Cup Final We were facing a confident Bessborough team, who had soundly defeated us earlier in the day. However, Rolph
used its knowledge and experience to advantage. Although, Bessborough scored first, Rolph fought back! Late in the second period
Rolph scored. With some great defence we started to manage our end of the ice and then…the Manny show. Manny scored two
goals to give Rolph the lead. Bessborough was not going down without a fight and pulled their goalie late in the third. However,
their plan backfired as Manny potted his third goal of the game. And with the 4-2 victory Rolph Road received the inaugural
Leaside Cup from Councillor Burnside.

Reminder to parents that even though its cold
outside, lice can still survive!
There have been a few reports in school.
Make sure you take the time to check your
children, especially if they have been in other
programs beyond the school.

Entry into School: When entering the school it needs to be through the front doors, using the buzzer. To
ensure we have a safe school, it is imperative that we know who is in the school at all times. Visitors and
volunteers need to sign in /out at the office and receive a badge.
Student Lates: Once O’ Canada is played your child is late and needs to come to the office for a late slip.
Parents are not to drop children in their class before coming to the office.

School Website! Our new school website is now available. Find out what's going on in the school as well as
other Rolph Rd information! Please go to- http://schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/rolphroad
Colder Weather: As we move into the winter weather, please send you children to school with the appro-priate clothing, as we will be going outside for lunch and recess. AND for those parents whose child may be “environmentally enthusiastic” (educational speak for – likes to play in puddles) it is a good idea to send an extra set of clothes to school. TDSB cold weather policy states: when temperature and/or windchill fac-tor indicates -28C or lower children will remain indoors due to risk of frostnip and frostbite.
When temperature and/or windchill factor indicates –20 to –28C, recesses may be shortened to 10 minutes and lunch recess be 20 minutes depending on local conditions.
