in Liefde
Ek kwoteer die woorde van Billy Graham “Godwill be the judge, Holy Spirit will convinceand we need to love people”. Om lief te hêbeteken nie om ons oë toe te hou vir diewaarheid of om stil te bly oor ongeregtigheidnie. God het die waarheid deur Jesusuitgeroep. Die kruis het gepraat van liefdemaar ook sonde wat nie deur die mensdomgedra kon word nie. Die loon van die sondeis die dood maar genade die ewige lewe inChristus. God se liefde konfronteer diemensdom. Sy liefde is nie onvoorwaarlik niemaar is gekoppel aan ‘n voorwaarde. Almalwat glo sal gered word. Ons mag nooit Godse Woord intepreteer om by ons eie lewe aante pas nie. Onvoorwaarlike liefde, sonde,enige riglyne of bakens is gevaarlik. Dit kweekrebelle, wat doen net wat hulle wil enproklameer dat genade en liefde goed genoegis. Moenie dwaal nie, God se Woord praatbaie oor rentmeesterskap, heiligmaking engehoorsaamheid. En ja - dit alles moet in endeur liefde tot Jesus gedoen word. Kom onsdink weer aan die woorde van Billy Graham,God oordeel, Hy is die operregter en elkemens gaan eendag voor Hom verskyn, so kry
jou lewe in orde. Die Heilige Gees oortuigelke mens van die Waarheid van God seWoord en liefde waarvan ook die toestandvan elke mens se hart. Luister dan as dieHeilige Gees praat. Ek en jy moet die liefdewat Jesus aan ons bewys het deur ‘nGodvresende lewe demonstreer. Ons is lief,omdat ons Sy liefde ervaar het. Elke kind vanGod staan slegs deur genade. Bly dusnederig.Iemand wat liefde verstaan leef die waarheidwant hy weet dat die waarheid van Christusse liefde mense kan vrymaak. Joh 8:23 “Enjulle sal die waarheid ken en die waarheidsal jou vrymaak” Ja, die waarheid konfronteermaar maak vry van die leuen. Die leuen vanvalsheid verblind en bind mense om te glodat hy kan leef soos hy wil en nog steedsgered sal wees. Moenje dwaal nie. Bly in diewaarheid. Wat is ons reaksie wanneer ons ‘nverkeerskonstabel sien, ons ry stadiger enons gordel ons vas. Have you ever experienced the relief when a caralarm that has been going off for the last hour,stops?Suddenly you can take a breath and think clearlyagain.But, if it isn’t a car alarm it is some other distractionthat’ll keep us out of our heads.I love distraction because the reality is that itstops me from thinking. More specifically, it stopsme from thinking about myself.I like to keep it light because sometimes it is hardto deal with myself. I don’t want to have to ask(and answer) questions like, “why am I whereI’m at?”, “am I happy and do I even know whatwill make me happy?”, “why am I not achievingmy goals?”.Because if I’m forced to answer these questions Imight not be happy with what comes out.I may just come to the realisation that I’m 100%responsible for the how my life has turned out.And, when I have nobody to blame but myself …that’s a bitter pill to swallow. Because once youcome to that realisation that there’s nowhere tohide, then you have to deal with yourself. And,that can be hard.Thus, I keep myself busy so that I don’t have toface the reality of what I have created … my life.
Theologian Frederich Buechner puts it moreeloquently than I ever could, “We shy away fromintrospection because however fearful the surfaceseems, we fear the depths still more.”Of course we fear the depths and try and keepthings light and on the surface. But, it is onlywhen we go deep that we can really figure thingsout for ourselves.And, when we truly plumb the depths of ourhearts and souls and realise that, yes, we reallyare 100% responsible for creating our world, itcan be quite liberating.Because if we’re 100% responsible, we have thepower to change any situation we’re in right now.So, if you’re not happy with something in yourlife, you have the choice to do something about itright now.Take yourself off the grid for a while and shut the‘alarm’ off so that you can come to grips withwho you really are.Have the courage to go deep so that you can turnyour life from superficial to stupendous. Thejourney is worth it, I promise you.
