NON-ATAR PATHWAYS
From the Principal and Director of StudiesChrist Church has a long and proud history in educational achievement and providing boys with rich co-curricular, pastoral, spiritual and social experiences. We value academics whilst holding the development of boys social and interpersonal skills in the same esteem. Throughout the boys’ journey there are decision points and one such point is reached in Year 10.
During Year 10 our students, together with parents, teachers and careers advisors discuss the direction they wish to take for the following two final years of their education.
How we facilitate our students’ pathways at this point in their educational journey is very important to us, as there are alternatives to be considered.
The students can select either:• an ATAR pathway (a minimum of 4 ATAR
subjects and up to 2 General subjects); or• a non-ATAR pathway (all General subjects
or a combination of General and up to 3 ATAR subjects)
This decision will be based on a number of things including the student’s interests, skills and goals.
There is a myth that undergraduate university admissions are made on the basis of ATAR only, however this is simply not correct. There are a number of ways for students to gain admission to a tertiary institution and we have a flexible system that assists students.
We want our families to know that there is a strong alternative to the ATAR.
