My Real World Problem
John and five of his friends would like to go to six flags. If the tickets cost $34.99 per person, how much would it cost for john and all of his friends to go?
The Equation
Y= 34.99x or f(x)= 34.99x
X= The number of six flag ticketsY= The total cost
Independent and Dependent
The Independent variable is x which is the number of Six Flags tickets.
The Dependent variable is y which is the total cost.
The total cost depends on the number of Six Flags tickets.
Table of Values
X 34.99(x) Y (X,Y)
1 34.99(1) 34.99 (1, 34.99)
2 34.99(2) 69.98 (2, 69.98)
3 34.99(3) 104.97 (3, 104.97)
4 34.99(4) 139.96 (4, 139.96)
5 34.99(5) 174.95 (5, 174.95)
6 34.99(6) 209.94 (6, 209.94)
Domain and Range
Domain: is the x valuesRange: is the y values
Domain= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}Range= {34.99, 69.98, 104.97, 139.96,
174.95, 209.94}

Is it Continuous or Discrete?
My graph is Discrete because my data contains only points and not a line.
Is it a Function?
Yes, it is a Function because the x values don’t repeat.

Conclusion
For John to go to Six Flags by himself it would cost $34.99. But if he went with five of his friends it could cost up to $209.94.
