Realizing real growth and results in the arts and cultural sector is a primary goal of
the Greater Columbus Arts Council (Arts Council). While funding in 2015 remained
relatively level, new and longtime programs allowed us to continue to invest in area
organizations and artists.
• Twenty-six grants totaling $2.8 million were awarded in Operating Support and
48 grants totaling $486,737 in Project Support.
• Partnered with the Columbus Cultural Leadership Consortium, to launch the
largest public/private partnership to market the arts in Columbus’ history with
the Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art campaign. Nearly 30 million
paid, earned, online and social media impressions have been generated in
just six months.
• Expanded the Columbus Arts Festival footprint west toward Franklinton,
added a theatre and acoustic stage, and hosted a Film Summit in partnership
with Film Columbus the week of the Festival to build interest in growing the
film economy in Columbus.
• Hired a development director to assist in raising funds for the Columbus Arts
Festival, Art Makes Columbus, the Community Arts Partnership Awards and
matching funds for power2give.
As always, we are grateful to the Mayor, Columbus City Council, and the Ohio Arts
Council for our funding and all the individuals, corporations and community partners
who support our work in the arts.
