Geological Report52N08NW2005 2.19536 CASUMMIT LAKE
General Geology:
The geology of the area covered by KRL 1185088 is pre dominately sedimentary , composing of greywacke, slate, quart zite, and conglomerates. The general strike is 220 degrees, and dipping 50 to 60 degrees to the southwest.
The area of interest is the old Wagner/Melanson showing 600 metres to the southwest of Wagner Bay of Birch Lake, which is a stockwork of parralell folded quartz veins that lay on strike with the general geology, and contain pyrite and gold.
The geology of the second area, comprising of mining claims KRL 1184813 and 1184814, is primarily mafic andesites alternately bedded with ultra-mafics to the north portion, and porphyritic intermediate tuffs inbetween. The general strike of the geology is 290 degrees, with a dip of 20 to 60 degrees to the north east. This with the plunge of 10 degrees to the north-west, means that a ridge of outcrop may only provide a single lithological unit for observation for it's entire length, unless one can find a drop-off on either the south-east or south-west faces. Structurally, different lithologies can only be traversed by depth.
By sampling the first group, the assays proved that the quartz veining was auriferous with mineable grades, and that the gold was not confined to the quartz itself, but also the miner alized wallrock. On the second group, no significant gold values were found, but it was the structural formation of the geology that made sampling seperate lithologies difficult.
Recommendations:
Top priority should be given to the first group, in that the entire area of the auriferous quartz vein should be stripped off and sampled where-ever mineralization is found.
On the second area, areas with alteration and mechanical deformation should be checked at depth by drilling to test for anomoulous zones, after doing a geophysical program to identify any areas of significant anomolies.
