"Project methodology

At Golden Gekko we work very closely with the client, eliminating misunderstandings and increasing communication.

!   We work in very short iterations, usually hours or at the most days, ensuring that we can get rapid feedback on the applications. If we are heading in the wrong direction it will not be for very long.

!   We identify the core product functionality as expected by the client, as early as possible, to enable early customer road testing. We develop secondary functions once the target users have experienced how the core functions work in real life.

!   We prefer to have a transparent dialog with our customers through the development process discussing around the actual product instead of specifications solely. This allows us to deliver the right product at the right time with exceptional quality.

!   Development methodology based on 10+ years of research and best practice case studies of major corporations including Ericsson, ABB and Vodafone at leading software engineering universities

Agility in everything we do

UE/Design

End to end experience – Identify the key use cases and optimise in iterations

Simplicity – Consumers want apps/sites as easy to use as on desktops.

Capability – Consumers want same level of functionality and content on mobile as on web.

Interface – Needs to be treated differently between smartphones vs tablets, OS platforms, screen sizes and input (touch screen vs keyboard)

Reliability – Customers expect mobile services to work everywhere all the time - QA

Speed – Performance makes a huge difference for usability

App Development

!   Golden Gekko has been handling the challenges of mobile fragmentation since our start in 2005. Java was the dominant platform standard for mobile app development. At the time mobile app development had already become complex due to a myriad of device manufacturers and platforms so we developed the GG Mobile App Framework allowing us to support up to 95% of all smartphones and feature phones globally.

!   Since then the platform landscape has evolved with iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, Meego, Bada and WAC being large players creating great opportunities for developers, but also even more fragmentation challenges.

!   The following slides shows a technical overview giving a high level explanation how Golden Gekko’s App Framework handles the fragmentation today in order to make our development cost efficient and our applications as fast and reliable as possible.

In mobile fragmentation is forever, deal with it.

Introduction."

App Store Distribution

Page 49: Golden Gekko general presentation Dec 2011

Introduction

!   Generally the most efficient way of generating traffic to a mobile campaign is by exposing the campaign through the mobile channel from the beginning. Click-through-rates from mobile banner advertising for normal marketing campaigns is about 1-5% on mobile but for free applications such as the ones offered by Golden Gekko click-through-rates have been 15-20% and in some cases above 50%. The click-through rates are also in the same magnitude when using SMS to promote new services but the cost is higher and the risk of being accused of spamming is also greater.

!   Another alternative is to tag along on existing communication channels and campaigns using TV, Web and Magazines but conversion ratios are usually low and the ad-space could potentially be used even more efficiently for other types of campaigns.

!   Finally the most impressive results seen to date have been based on a combination of PR and appstore/community distribution. Most news channels still consider mobile marketing and applications exciting and are happy to write about it as long as the service is useful to the consumers.
