Dates to Remember
Our Senior Dance group that is managed by Miss Hortense and Miss Wolujewicz performed at Glen Street Theatre on a number of occasions over the past fortnight. The dancers were magnificent in performance and behaviour. A big thank you to all parents and teachers involved in the prepara on for this wonderful performance opportunity. The Senior Dance Group will perform at our annual Showcase later in Term 3.
Once again another very concerned parent reported to the school of a near miss at the school crossing adjacent to Pee Wee Park. He was greatly concerned about the safety of students at the crossing. My recommenda on was to photograph the offending vehicle and report the incident to council rangers on 9424 0888. The school recommends the same response for people who park their cars illegally in the vicinity of the school. We have zero tolerance of any ac ons that could endanger the safety of students of Gordon West. Parents are reminded that there are heavy fines associated with such inappropriate behaviour. A major upgrade to the Ryde Road crossing has been completed. Although the crossing is safer members of the school community need to be ever vigilant when crossing this busy road. Parents of children who walk home from school are requested to remind their children about personal safety. Students should leave the school immediately a er the bell rings. The Gordon West Half yearly Repor ng / Interview Process for 2018 for the most part has been completed. Early in Term 3 Mrs Sheldon from the School Repor ng and Evalua on
Commi ee will be seeking your opinion in rela on to the Semester 1 repor ng process. SurveyMonkey will provide parents the opportunity to inform the school as to how effec ve individual families have found the repor ng/interview process. Please take me to complete the survey as your feedback is essen al to ensure our repor ng processes are valid and reflect parent opinions. All SurveyMonkey comments are anonymous unless parents choose to iden fy themselves. Some parents request a personal response to a comment or ques on which we are happy to oblige. SurveyMonkey summaries are discussed with representa ves of the Gordon West Parents and Ci zens’ Associa on and then tabled at the Parents and Ci zens’ mee ngs. Parents are reminded that they may contact their child’s teacher at any me during the school year to discuss any issues that may arise. Please don’t wait un l the designated repor ng period to get in touch with your child’s teacher should you have concerns.
Once again thank you for your support over the past term. Gordon West con nues to be a dynamic centre of learning where our wonderful teachers work together to provide excellent opportuni es for the children of our school community, supported by a very ac ve parent body, in a happy, friendly environment. School resumes for teachers on Monday 23 July with children returning the following day on Tuesday 24 July 2018. We thank you for your support of our School Development Day on Monday 23 July.

Garden Club is off to a fantastic start this term with students planting a range of winter vegetables. Once a week, Garden Club members have the opportunity to care for the plants, watering and weeding, while learning about how things grow.
