Annual Meeting Report
Q: What is the mission of the Church?
A: The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each
other in Christ.

and promotes justice, peace, and love.
Q: Through whom does the Church carry out its mission?
A: The Church carries out its mission through the ministry of all its members.
~The Book of Common Prayer, An Outline of the Faith, The Catechism, p. 855
The section of the Catechism referenced above answers the question some of us have
from time to time, that being, “Why does the Church exist and what is our purpose?”
While it is difficult to measure spiritual things by temporal standards, the reports of
the various committees and ministries of Grace Church contained in our Annual
Report highlight the details of God’s work among us and our attempts to fulfill that
mission.
Through our prayer and worship we are reoriented to our larger purpose in this life
and our need for God and each other to fulfill that purpose. Through our service and
care for each other and those in our community we are able to share the Good News
of God’s love through our actions, our presence, and our words. All of us have a part
to play in the ministry of God’s reconciling love through Jesus Christ in the power of
the Holy Spirit. The World and the Church is poorer when everyone is not included in
that mission.
Grace Church is aptly named because we recognize that there is not one among us
who is not in need and has been broken, but it is in our coming together as broken
and needy people that God’s strength is made manifest in us and we are enabled to
do be for others a light pointing them towards God’s love in Jesus Christ.
May we be reminded of the important role we each play in this symphony of God’s
love called Grace Episcopal Church and may we take seriously our responsibility to
not simply attend, but be the Church.
I look forward to 2015 as we continue to grow together into that loving community
God is forming us to be.
Peace,

DID YOU KNOW?
by Kathy Moss
Has anyone recognized a
change in the altar area of
Grace Church? New carpet
replaced the old but the
main change is the Oriental
rug that graced our altar
area for many years has
been moved. There was no
way to keep it from slipping
on the new carpet so for safety reasons it was removed. Before
revealing the new location there is history involved with the
Oriental: It was given to Grace Episcopal Church by founding
members of our church, Sam and Sarah Richardson in memory of
Sam's mother. Sam was a member of the building committee for
the original building, served on the Vestry and served as
Treasurer. Sam and Sarah were very active in our little
church. They moved to El Dorado, AR in the l980's. The Oriental
graced our altar for many years. Much thought was put into where
it needed to be relocated. The Children's Altar at Grace House is
the final location. We know it will be cared for at Grace House just
as it was at our altar for so many years as the memorial lives on for
the Richardson family.
