GREETINGS FROM: MR. SLACK, OUR FAVORITE PRINCIPAL
BRCMS Families, Thank you everyone, most importantly our students, for a great beginning of what is sure to be an outstanding school year. If you want to know all about Boca Raton Community Middle School and keep track of all the exciting things happening at your school, check Edline and follow us on Twitter regularly for updated information from teachers, the administration, and the PTSA. BRCMS Edline Web Site: www.edline.net/pages/Boca_Raton_Middle_School BRCMS PTSA Web Site: www.bocamiddleptsa.com Twitter @BocaRatonMiddle Thank you to everyone who attended our “Night of Expectations” Open House Thursday, September 15th. We were able to showcase our beautiful school and our highly qualified teachers and staff members. Everyone who attended was very impressed with our great school and the amazing educational programs and academic opportunities we provide to each and every one of our students in every classroom each day. Parents! Thank you for being partners in your child’s education. Most importantly, thank you for your confidence and support as we all work together to make Boca Raton Community Middle School the best it can be and ensure that all of our students have an opportunity to achieve academic excellence. Parents! Attendance Matters! One of the most important and basic ways you can show your support is by ensuring that your child attends school each and every day and arrives on time. Poor attendance and tardiness are disruptive to the learning environment and can have a negative impact on student achievement. Please help your child develop good life-long habits by making sure they attend school every day and arrive on time. Thank You Peter T. Greetings From Kim Bremer, PTSA President
Hello BRCMS families! It is hard to believe that we are already approaching October! What a wonderful beginning to the school year we have had! I have seen the students filled with energy as they walk from class to class. It is great to see our students share smiles and laughter as they rush through the hallways or while they are enjoying one another’s company while sitting at lunch together. Right now we are in the middle of our Membership Drive for the PTSA. If you haven’t joined yet, PLEASE consider doing so! Just think about all of the positive and wonderful information that you can share with our PTSA or even more important, our BRCMS families. By being a member of our PTSA, you have the power to help make a change. You will be creating a better school, a better environment and a better community for our wonderful students. But none of this can be done without becoming a member of the PTSA. It only takes $10.00 per parent and $5.00 per student to initiate that desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, our teachers and administration here at Boca Middle. Together, we CAN make a difference! We are currently looking for a parent to help us with Business Partnerships. Should you have any interest in filling this position, please contact me, Kim Bremer, at [email protected]. With regards to t-shirt sales, please check your email to find out when we will be selling our COBRA t-shirts in the cafeteria. We have received new t-shirts and will be selling them in the cafeteria in the next two weeks during all four lunches. In closing, I wish you all a wonderful, safe, and healthy school year. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming PTSA meeting! Be informed! Be active! Be your student’s biggest fan! Be a part of PTSA! Kim Bremer BRCMS PTSA President

Reading Plus This year all students are required to utilize Reading Plus to help them prepare for the upcoming FSA test. Reading Plus is a web-based program that helps students develop the skills they need to be proficient readers and independent learners. Your child can complete Reading Plus assignments on your home computer or tablet. The students should have already completed a placement assessment. This assessment determines their current ability level and creates the upcoming lessons to fit their needs. Each See Reader assignment takes approximately 12 to 15 minutes to complete. The program will keep track of assignments completed. Throughout the year students will receive incentives for completion in the classroom and will be eligible for grade level incentives as well. If your child does not have access to a computer please contact their grade level guidance counselor for assistance.
