Happy 4th of July MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
JULY 2017 We will celebrate our Country’s birthday all month. What a great time to enhance our pride in America and the privilege of being an American! July is also National Hot Dog, Ice Cream and Picnic Month. There’s no better way to beat the heat than with cool, refreshing ice cream. Our Las Vegas Center responds to the important mission of supporting adults of all ages and senior citizens in their efforts to remain independent, with dignity in the community. The atmosphere of pride and patriotism will be strong as we will continue to offer the fun contemporary activities that our participants enjoy, including: A daily exercise program, Creative Dance, Tai Chi, Music appreciation, Gardening, American Sign Language, Bingo competitions, Arts & Crafts, and live entertainment every afternoon. Please join us as we celebrate another birthday for our great nation, and welcome the month of July.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM JUNE Our Father’s Day Celebration was simply marvelous. Our participants were introduced to Funology and Trivia Comedy Hour. The laughter filled the room with each funny story and joke that was told. We were wonderfully entertained by The Bob Katz with his cool rhythm and Blues music, which flowed through our ears and floated down to our toes. A BIG THANK YOU to Chef Chris and sous-chef Cynthia. They prepared an awesome Father’s Day Lunch. Everything was quite tasty. Our seniors have fallen in love with our serenity garden. They have been basking in the sun, listening to the sounds of the water fall and sipping cool libations in a serene atmosphere. It is a beautiful sight to behold. We were entertained by the awesome Happy Hoofers, showcasing impersonators Judy Garland, Cab Calloway, Selena and the High Steppers. Our seniors enjoyed the Happy Hoofer’s and big smiles were observed on the faces of everyone. It was a beautiful day. NEW ARRIVALS We are pleased to welcome the new participants who became a part of our Center family in June: Jacob E., Philip B., Inez B., Magdalena F., Bertha R. and Nema W.
CLOSURES We will be OPEN on TUESDAY, the 4th of July.
GET PLUGGED IN! There’s a computer lab here at our Center. It is located in the Quiet Room by the Arts & Crafts department and the software suits all needs with its vast technology.
DID YOU KNOW? Even mild dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue, poor short term memory, impaired concentration and cognition. Try to drink at least eight glasses of liquid every day; plain water is best.
EVENTS IN JULY “Saturdays and Sundays Are Special”: Try not to miss our fun activities on Saturdays and Sundays. Join us for Tai Chi on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10:00, Creative Dance on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 am, Music appreciation on Wednesdays at 10:00am, Also Sign Language at 10:00am on Thursday Caregivers are invited. On July 4th we’ll be celebrating Independence Day. We will be also honoring our seniors that served in the armed forces. There will be a Patriotic Parade starring our seniors and delicious barbecue. Please come dressed in your red, white and blue. Be on the look-out for some special surprise events throughout the month. If these are not your regularly scheduled days, we would still love to see you here. Please talk to our client service representatives.
GETTING SCENT-IMENTAL
A new aromatherapy scent, Rosemary is thought to stimulate the brain and improve mental performance. By using certain aromas in conjunction with activities such as reading, music therapy or meditation, aromatic compounds can actually influence your brain’s chemistry to heighten your mood or sharpen your mind in a way that’s safe and all natural. Rosemary will be the aromatic of choice as we continue with our aromatherapy series in July.
SEE WHAT’S IN BLOOM!
Our new Serenity Garden is in full bloom. We are now seeing the blooms on the Red Apple and the Hearts and Flowers. Our seniors are basking in the early morning sunlight in a beautiful serene setting.
DON’T FORGET! YOU CAN STILL PURCHASE ARTWORK FROM OUR TALENTED SENIORS. ALL PROCEEDS WILL, AS ALWAYS, BENEFIT THE ARTS AND CRAFTS DEPARTMENT. BE A PROUD OWNER OF A
ONE-OF-A-KIND ART MASTERPIECE.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Our birthday party will be held on the 4th Wednesday of the month, July 26th, 2017. We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Audrey S. (7/1), Evelyn S. (7/13), Jerzine C. (7/20), Winston B. (7/21), Yuriko O. (7/21), Beverly B. (7/23), Yael F. (7/23), Carlos R. (7/24), Helen J. (7/24), Geneva B. (7/26), Siria C. (7/26) and Anna M. (7/31). Entertainment will be provided and birthday treats will be served.
SUPPORT GROUP Our ongoing Support Group Meetings are held on the 1st and the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 10:00 AM. July 5th and July 19th will be the next meeting dates and everyone, as always, is welcome to attend!
DiD YOU KNOW!!!
We have Tai Chi-Chi Kung Yoga Classes Mondays and Saturdays morning from 10:00-11:00am . Tai Chi- Chi Kung is a combination of choreographed seated or standing movement, sound vibrations and guided meditations to promote healing and relaxation by releasing negative emotions such as worry, anxiety, grief and anger.
On behalf of our entire family of caring professionals here at Adult Day Care Center of Las Vegas, we would like to thank you for being a part of our Center. We strive to make our Center a place of caring for all our participants. Remember, our doors are always open to you and your family members’ needs. Thank you for choosing us! Dee Dee Woodberry
