Child and Family Team (CFT)
Facilitation Training Audience: CYF-BHS therapists, counselors, family and youth support partners, case managers, and other direct service providers working with children, youth, and families.
Pre-requisite: An Introduction to Pathways to Well-Being: Understanding the Katie A. Lawsuit and the Core Practice Model eLearning, Pathways to Well-Being eLearning Booster and CWS 101: An Overview of Child Welfare Services in San Diego County eLearning.

San Diego County Pathways to Well-Being trainings help to facilitate a common, strategic and practical framework that
integrates service planning, delivery, coordination and management among all those involved throughout the County in
working with children involved in multiple service systems. The San Diego County Pathways to Well-Being Child and
Family Team (CFT) Facilitation trainings are taught in a triad with a representative from Child Welfare Services, Behav-
ioral Health Services and the family/youth sector. CFT Facilitation trainings are geared towards Behavioral Health pro-
fessionals who will be facilitating Child and Family Team meetings and are an opportunity to strengthen facilitation
skills while learning the necessary components of the CFT meeting.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Explain the components of a Child and Family Team meeting
Prepare for a CFT meeting
Practice effective facilitation skills that support safety, permanency and well-being
Demonstrate effective use of solution focused inquiry
Demonstrate the incorporation of cultural factors in facilitation
Navigate disagreement and facilitate challenging conversations

CONTINUING EDUCATION: This course meets the qualifications for 4 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as
required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. The Academy is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to
sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs, Provider #91928. The Academy is approved by the California Board of Registered
Nursing, Provider # BRN CEP15014; CCAPP-EI, Provider # 1S-98-398-0818, and CAADE Provider # CP10-906-C0317 for 4 contact hours/CEHs. The Academy
