WHATISHOOTSUITE?

Hootsuiteisatoolwhichwillallowsyoutomanageallyoursocialmediachannelsinoneplace.Italsoallowsyoutoschedulepoststosocialchannels,lookattheanalyticsofyourpostsandcoordinateyoureffortswithothermembersofthewiderteam.

EachcentrehasoneaccountwithwhichtologintoHootsuite.Thismaybeagenericnameorunderthenameofacertainmemberofstaffi.e.name@centrename.com

Yourexistingsocialmediachannelshavealreadybeenaddedtothesystemandassignedtoa‘Team’.The‘Team’isnamedafteryourcentreandyouruserhasbeenassignedasamemberalongwiththeBritishLandheadoffice,andthevariousagencieswhoworkonthesocialmediachannelsonbehalfofBritishLand.

LOGGINGIN

YoushouldhavebeensetupwithausernameandpasswordforHootsuitetoaccessyourcentreHootsuiteaccount.Ifyoudonothaveausernameorpassword,pleasecontactyourWhitewallAccountManagerastheywillbeabletoassist.

Rolloverthemenuanditwillpopoutallowingyoutoseealltheoptionsavailable.TherearevariousmenusandoptionswhichallowtheusertocustomisetheirHootsuiteexperience.

Yoursocialchannelshavebeenaddedalreadysothereshouldnotbeaneedtoalteranyofthesettingsatthisstage.

SETTINGUPTABS&STREAMS

ThefirststeptousingHootsuitewillbetosetupyour‘Streams’.

Streamsareusedasanoverviewofeachsocialplatformtoviewavarietyofdifferentelementsinoneplace,withouthavingtologintodifferentaccountsandpages(e.gscheduledposts,timeline,messages,mentions).

ThisispersonalisedviewandisspecifictoyouraccountsoanychangestoStreamswillonlybevisibletoyouoranyonewhohasaccessyouraccount.

TosetupaStream,clickon‘Streams’withinthemenuonthelefthandside.

Hootsuiteprovides3optionstosetupyourStreamsforthefirsttime.

Clickon‘BrowseAllStreams’asthiswillgiveyouthebestoptionsforyourneeds.

Thisactionwillautomaticallycreateanew‘Tab’whichyoucanthennameforthechannelyouwishtosettheStreamupfori.e.FacebookorTwitter.

Wewouldrecommendinitiallysettingup2tabs:oneforFacebook,oneforTwitter.

Torenamethetab,doubleclickontheareanexttothetopofthepagewhichistitles‘NewTab’(1).Thentypeinyourchosennameforthetabi.e.Facebook.

OncetheTabhasbeensetupyounowneedtoaddsocialmediastreams

Usethedropdownmenu(2)intheAddaStreamareatoselecttheFacebookaccountforyourcentre.

Onceselected,selecttheMessagesiconbelow,whichwillsetupastreamforyoutoviewallmessagesthatcometoyourcentre’sFacebookpage.

Repeatthisprocessforthefollowingactions:

• AddaStream• FacebookTimeline• FacebookScheduled

YoucannowviewallactivityonFacebookinonetabofHootsuite.

WewillalsorecommendsettingupanewtabforTwitterusingthesamesteps.

Clickonthe+sign(1)nexttoyourrecentlycreateFacebooktab.

YoucannowfollowthesameprocessasbeforetoaddthefollowingStreamsforTwitter:

• Mentions• Inbox• MyTweets• Scheduled

TodeleteaTab,andallStreamwithintheTab,clickontheX(1)nexttotheTab’sname.

ToremoveaStreamclickonthe3dotsinthetoprighthandcorneroftheStream(2),thenselectdelete.

RememberthatTabsandStreamsareonlymethodsofviewingtheinteractingwithyoursocialmediachannels.Editinganddeletingtabsandstreamswillhavenoeffectonyoursocialchannels.

Youarenowsetuptoviewyoursocialchannelactivity.

CREATEASOCIALPOST

Themethodforpostingonanyofyoursocialmediachannelswillbethesame.

Atthetopofthepageyouwillseeaboxwithwords‘Sendto…’(1)

Rolloverthisboxtodropdownthearetocomposeyourmessage.

Youcanselectoneormultipleaccountsatatimetopostto.Theaccountsselectedwillbehighlighted.Clicktheaccountsagaintounselectthem.(2)

Onceyouhaveselectedyourchannel,clickwithintheComposeMessageboxtocreateyourpostandenteryourpostcopy.(3)

ToincludeaURL,copyandpastethefullURLintotheAddalinkbox(4).AShrinkbuttonwillappear–clickthistoshortenandinserttheURLintoyourtext.ByshorteningtheURL,youwillsavecharactersinyourpost–especiallyimportantwhenwritingtweetswhichhavealimitedamountofcharactersavailable.

Toinsertanimage,clickonthe‘paperclip’icon(5)anduploadtheimagefromthelocationit’ssavedinonyourcomputer.Whenit’suploaded,you’llseetheimageappearbelowyourwrittentext.
